[HCDX] TRS: New KVOH Tests

2013-09-05 Thread Akbar Indra Gunawan

Dari: rrobin...@kvoh.net
Kepada: rrobin...@kvoh.net
Email Keluar: Kam, 5 Sep 2013 11:25 ICT
Judul: New KVOH Tests

Thank you for responding to the test broadcasts KVOH conducted on 17775 kHz a
couple of months ago.  We were happy that our transmitter performed well, but
were disappointed with the propagation conditions that make use of 16 metres
challenging at the present time.  However, we have also been working hard to
restore a second transmitter to operate on 31 metres (a band we have not
operated on for over 6 years).  That work is nearing completion, and we would
like to run two more evening tests to see how the tx is performing.

Accordingly, we would very much appreciate your reception reports (or
preferably, recordings) of the tests we will be running on 9975 kHz on Friday
and Saturday evenings this week.  The exact times are:

Saturday 7th    0100-0400 UTC

Sunday 8th       0100-0400 UTC

In North and Central America, that would be this Friday and Saturday evenings,
8-11pm Central, 9pm-12am Eastern.  The test program will be similar to last
time, but not exactly the same.  It will contain segments in both English and
Spanish.

The transmitter site is near Los Angeles, and here it is currently getting dark
at about 0230 UTC (7:30pm local).  Therefore, during the first half of these
tests, the transmission path will be increasingly in darkness, and for the last
90 minutes or so will be in complete darkness.  Please let us know what
reception sounds like at your location as the evening progresses, and also what
type of receiver and antenna you are using.

Reception reports may be emailed to q...@kvoh.net or sent to:

KVOH - Voice of Hope
P.O.Box 102
Los Angeles, CA 90078
United States of America

All correct reports will be verified with our QSL card.

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance with this test!

Subject: KVOH Testing

KVOH - Voice of Hope, Los Angeles, would like to thank all those who responded
to last Saturday's test broadcast.  It was unfortunate that the time chosen for
the test happened to coincide with a geomagnetic storm, but in spite of that,
reports have so far been received from 13 U.S. states, as well as from Canada,
Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina and Indonesia.

The station will be testing again tomorrow, Sunday 7th, from 1700-1900 UTC
(1-3pm Eastern).  As before, the frequency is 17775 kHz, with 50kW on a beam of
100 degrees (towards Cuba).  The same test program will be used as last week,
with announcements in English and Spanish, which hopefully will be easier to
copy since atmospheric conditions are better this weekend.  Reports will be
very much appreciated to either q...@kvoh.net or P.O. Box 102, Los Angeles, CA
90078.  If reporting by email, please attach a short mp3 recording of your
reception if possible.  If reporting by mail and requesting a QSL, please
enclose return postage.  In all reports, please be sure to describe your
receiver and antenna used.  Reception comparisons using handheld portable
radios with telescopic antennas (outdoors) will be especially helpful.

KVOH currently expects to be able to launch a preliminary 2-hour daily schedule
around the end of this month (July), and will build from there.

Hello Akbar: wonderful to hear from you again. Hope you are having a
happy New Year. Thank you for your reception report below; we're happy
to report that it is confirmed and that we will send you our 11th
Anniversary QSL later today.

I apologize for not sending a reply to your previous report but it was
never delivered. During January, there were some problems with emails
sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as this account is an alias for my personal INBOX at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] For some reason, our IT department decided that my personal
account must be changed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to match RFA's
long-standing naming convention for email accounts. It was not until
January 25th that we realized the problem and corrected it. While all
is working properly now, it seems that many reception reports sent to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], or to [EMAIL PROTECTED] were simply not received.

If you know of anyone else that is also missing confirmations from RFA,
pls ask them to write directly to me or to [EMAIL PROTECTED] again so we can
work on confirming their outstanding reports, no matter how old the
report is.

Thank you again for your email; it's always a pleasure to hear from you.

Subject: Question about my reception report

Dear Sir,

Last month, I had sent my reception report on your Vietnamese broadcast
on December 30, 2007 at 23.30 - 23.47 UTC on 11,605 kHz. I sent my
report to your email address at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Have you received my
previous email and sent your QSL card for confirmation on my report?

Please inform me about my report, I am afraid that my email could not
reach your email inbox. In this email, I would re-write my report, just
in case my previous email has failed to reach your email inbox, here is
my report:

Date (UTC) : December 30, 2007
Freq / Language : 11,605 kHz ( Vietnamese )
Time: 23.30 - 23.47 UTC
S I N P O : 3 4 3 3 3

The signal of your transmission was in fair strength, and propagation
condition was also generally in fair condition. These conditions were
stable during I tuned-in to this broadcast. Even though there was weak
interference from another station near your frequency, it did not make
much trouble to your signal. Unfortunately, I could not identify the
name of station since its strength was weak. Atmospheric noise was
rarely heard with its strength was between weak and fair, but mostly it
was in fair strength. In over all, reception condition of your
Vietnamese transmission was fair.

When I started to tune-in to your signal at 23.30 UTC, I could hear an
instrumental music as opening of your broadcast. Then, a female
announcer talked for a while in Vietnamese, she mentioned Washington.
Then, a very brief instrumental music was played, and the same female
announcer started to host a talk program, she mentioned Pakistan and
Benazir Bhutto. At around 23.32 UTC, a male announcer continued to host
this program. A minute later, another male announcer joined to talk. He
talked for a minute only, which followed by the first male announcer
continued to talk in this program.

At around 23.37 UTC, brief instrumental music was played, which followed
by a female announcer continued to talk in this program. She was the
same female who talked in the beginning of this program. She talked for
a minute only, which followed by male announcer continued to talk in
this program. Then, other male announcers also joined to talk in this
program, I presumed this talk was a discussion. At 23.46 UTC, the talk
was interrupted by a brief instrumental music. Then, the same female
announcer talked for a while, which followed by the previous discussion.
A minute later, at 23.47 UTC, I ended my reception on your Vietnamese
transmission.

I do hope I could receive your QSL card for my reception report above,
please send it to my address:

Akbar Indra Gunawan
JL. Nurul Hikmah IV No.27A
Tugu - Cimanggis - Depok 16951
Jawa Barat - Indonesia

Thank you very much for your time and attention to read and confirm my
reception report. Waiting for your email respond and your QSL card in
the near future.

Sincerely Yours,

Akbar Indra Gunawan
