I could see that slowing a pileup down to a crawl, to be 
perfectly honest -- and to what end? Is call pirating really 
a major problem for DXpeditions? It might make QSLing a tad 
easier, but I think trying to get everyone to understand 
what's being done might be an exercise in futility, and if 
you think pileups are bad NOW, I'd hate to see what would 
happen with serial numbers.


In this age of online logs for major DXpeditions, if I don't 
see my call show up within 2 or 3 days of a QSO on a needed 
band I just make another Q.

The cost of operating DXA on K7C was inadvertently high (about $10K) due to
the server crashes generated by the extraordinary demand (42,000 logged in
DXers, 20,000 logins every day, 40 million total hits). The extra cost was
mostly the extra satellite time to modify DXA remotely from Kure and to
monitor the server. Watching DXA from the remote site is vary expensive due
to the overhead of the browser. The actual cost of uploading the radio log
is negligible (about $0.001/QSO using Inmarsat). I expect the next
deployment of DXA on a big DXpedition will add perhaps $1K to the budget,
almost all of which will be set-up, monitoring, service communications, etc.
When it becomes a reliable part of the equipment, it will add negligibly to
a DXpedition budget.

[DX-CHAT] 600 Ohm Ladder Line

Many tnx to those who pointed me to a supplier. Am going to try a Double 
Extended Zepp that caught my interest in a recent issue of QST. Anyone who 
has used an EDZ, please contact me direct with your comments/results 
(DX-wise of course!!) with this antenna. I will cut it 171 ft long(40m SSB) 
and raise it to
