[DX-CHAT] proper greetings

2006-01-03 Thread LA5HE Ragnar Otterstad
Happy new year, Charles.

You are above average on sensitivity to other people's situation. It
probably comes from your experience from foreign lands.
Unfortunately the great majority of DX-ers has not travelled and learned as
much as you have. Therefore I believe it to be wishful thinking
that you will have a big following on this subject.
But it was worth trying , IMHO !

73 Rag LA5HE

TO USA hams, especially: Please remember to make your holiday greetings
general. Please do not wish a non-Christian Merry Christmas unless u know
him not to mind.

Later, pse avoid wishing U.K. folks Happy 4th of July and for Am. Indians,
not Happy Thanksgiving

Not everyone has the same beliefs nor holidays. Sensitivity in operation is
better even than sensitivity in recevers. tnx, 73

All,

Charles's original e-mail I believe is very well intentioned and should be
understood in the manner in which it was sent. On the other hand what is
said between individuals is for each to understand and if the meaning is
well intentioned what is said is not as important as the meaning behind it.
See what being politically correct has done to our society.

No, his original email is left-wing political correctness gone wild. We
don't need lectures from left-wing nuts on a ham list to tell us how to
greet fellow hams during our cherished holidays.

The very idea of lecturing us about his politically correct messages to
others about our holidays is totally absurd and in bad taste.
