RE: [DX-NEWS] [DX-CHAT] Deleted vs Expunged

2003-06-16 Thread Bill Inkrote
Funny, that is how I think its done... I am at top honor roll with all
possible countries worked and confirmed - along with a bunch of stuff that
is no more... Thus my total is about 350 - but that only goes for bragging
rights because everyone with top honor is at 335...

So what is the big problem... I used to think it was stupid to keep stuff on
the list that was no longer on the air (Back then ZA, BY etc.) but
eventually I got them. Today EVERY NEWBIE wants everything NOW... well
sonny, it just doesn't work that way... you have to earn your place in
history and it doesn't happen overnight.

Looks like everyone can be happy IF: old-timers are allowed to keep their
all-time acquired entity number but they and everyone else will be top of
the honor roll only by confirming all CURRENT entities. The honor of
carrying deleted entities remains but does not count toward top of honor
roll.

Maybe?

[DX-NEWS] Possible reflector reflector

2002-12-04 Thread Bill Inkrote

Is there a problem with the reflector?

I seem to be getting daily the same messages over

everywhere? And it is not continuations of the same dry old threads, its
the same message over and over again...

Don't respond to the reflector - go direct

I worked IH9P in the DX Contest. The location was Pantelleria Island and
listed as African Italy. I don't think this counts as a separate entity
for DXCC, but I thought I'd check with the experts on this reflector.
 Any comments?

I understand that Ed doesn't want dupes in his log...from CYØ we had +20%
dupes from a certain countryBUT...if he gets the incorrect call
originally your DEAD !!! I was copied as JA8JOC on one DXpedition and
had to appeal to the manager to check logs again. So...if WA8JOC gets
incorrectly logged as JA8JOC originally, and JA8JOC does contact
 him..he's dead in this scenario.

I would much rather log the dupes, and sort it out later...just have him
say that this is a dupe QSO...QRZ...but log it anyway. It can be filtered
 by the software later.

Re: Re(2): [DX-NEWS] Hrane YT1AD in P5?

2002-03-12 Thread Bill Inkrote

P5 should never have gone on the DXCC listing - if they are not Issuing
licenses... Period...
Has anyone been issued a license? If, as I suspect, the answer is no -
including OH2BH, then there has been no legitimate operation from P5 and it
should not be on the DXCC listing.
If they do count OH2BH and 4L5FN then they should count P5RS7 and maybe 10
or so CBers who operate in the 10 meter band

One thing that your data does not show is that the KT34 does not like any
other antennas near to it. I have the 34XA and want to stack a 40M beam

The TH6 is not as critical.

 Dear Sirs.

Thanks for the messages regarding my antena information request.

I collected some knowledge in the messages that really clear me about
 the matter.
Some people prefer KT34 and others prefer TH6. There is not a allusion
that one is significative better than the other one.

My personal conclusions after reading the messages are:
Both TH6 and KT34 have almost the same forward and Front/back gain but
the KT34 is weather and high power proof since it has no traps. KT 34 is
also consider free maintenance and very high wind resistant (100 miles/h).
TH6 has bigger boom and in consequence just a litlle bit bigger forward
 gain in 20 meters (only).

Thanks a lot for all you that sent messages to the list and further
information are welcome on private in way not to disturb the main list
 discussion (DX).

year for an operation of this magnitude to chew down the QSL mountain. And
every inquiry from an impatient DXer that is courteously replied to kills ten
minutes of the manager's time, during which he might have opened 50 of those
  unopened envelopes.
If you indeed "hounded" him, the fact that he replied at all, and
  courteously, speaks well of him.
The scale and scope of modern mega-DXpeditions has changed DXing. Unless
and until more efficient QSLing methods, involving the Internet, are in place,
QSLing will remain the longest and most tedious phase of the operation.
Patience---the same quality required to bust a big pileup with less than a
  mega-signal---is called for here.

P.S.: I have yet to send my cards for D68C.

 AMEN ! I have asked N7NG about instituting a
LEVEL PLAYING FIELD for the single band awards
but he is afraid of backlash from the award holders.

As it stands, there is NO constant number of achievable
entities since the listings show the sum of Current Plus
DELETED entities. Even though I have worked all but
2 of the current entities on 40M, I am well below the
Old Timer Leaders who have more DELETED countries,
and I have been a serious all band DXer since the 1960's.

I believe a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD (listing only current
countries) for the single band awards would be a great
enticement for younger / newer DXers. As it stands,
the I2EOW TOPBANDS List is THE premier listing
for SERIOUS All Band DX'ers since it is based on
CURRENT entities and includes ALL bands from
160 through 10M but NO VHF (6M) as the Desoto Award does.

I would like to see a poll of the single band DXCC holders
to determine whether Deleted Countries should be included
in single band awards or if they prefer a Level Playing Field.

Re: [DXR] [Dx-QSL] DXCC Century Club

2001-06-22 Thread Bill Inkrote

It has been in a separate booklet published for the past few years.

Everyone that has submitted an update is in it, and gets a copy...

I guess your like me, didn't update my standings last year... so I borrowed
it from someone else... and yep, I am not listed.

Correction - There has NEVER been a legitimate P5 OPERATION - Just one
DEMONSTRATION !
