[DX-NEWS] Idea -- Can All DXCC countries operate on all bands???

2002-01-30 Thread ac6v

Ah the big inspiration lets say I want to know if BY operates on
17M
go to URL:
http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/
Select No Frames
Click on The Spot Database Search.
Select year 2001 and band e.g, 17M
Type in desired Prefix i.e. BY

Get results
18078.0 BY0AA 1617 12 Apr 2001
18077.9 BY0AA 1703 12 Apr 2001
18082.0 BY0AA 1712 15 Apr 2001
18150.2 BY5BG CQ 1442 07 Jun 2001
18135.0 BY1DX

Neat Huh

Getting no results doesn't say that the enitity can't operate there, but
a result comeback sez they have operated there. Assuming no slims,
Pirates and other such operations.

Re: [DXR] World Atlas??

2001-05-07 Thread AC6V

Hi Bruce -- Freebee Maps a bunch on line at URL:
http://ac6v.com/opaids.htm#MAPS

A good one is VK2CA's pages -- for 3B8 see URL:
http://www.vk2ca.com/Info/Maps/indian.html
Main Page at URL:
http://www.vk2ca.com/amateur.html

If you have a good atlas like Goodes (buy at any used book store for a song) --
then use the long/lats for ALL DXCC entities at URL:
http://no4j.com/nfdxa/dxcc/dxcc.asp
to find locations

Also the CIA Fact Book is a place to look for country info - URL:
http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/

For a PC program, I like Microsoft Encarta World Atlas 2001 -- even shows Malyj
Vysotskij

And of course, the old standby -- Radio Amateurs World Atlas Book - From DARC
Via The ARRL-- With CQ Zones and Prefixes
At URL:
http://www.arrl.org/catalog/

And I understand (but don't have the latest) RAC Flying Horse callbook has a
good map section. Includes prefix maps (colorful maps of most of the world
including
small islands, single maps for each state in the US, and detail maps for each
Province of Canada). Pinpoint on
the maps the location of each call retrieved.
