Listening to W0YK/6Y5 this morning on 80 CW inspired this: Some of the fellows who are operating low bands from islands in the West-Indies are neglecting to work split. This is very counter-productive. Nobody here can hear who they are coming back to, as they are covered up by strong EU signals calling. Some people seem to be calling without even hearing the DX station ! and some make LONG calls ! [DXR] A DXer's view
Hard talk is what many of us feel like doing now. But talk is not worth much relative to fixing the problem. I will say, and honestly believe that nothing can stop this country from taking care of the business ahead. As far as I can see and hear, NO ONE is willing to sit back and wait until it happens again, here or abroad. We will take care of the cowards, and let there be no reservations that all Americans will sacrifice if necessary. A sober approach would be to analyse what USA has done wrong in order to create enough hatred so some people are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. With an ignorant president you need some wise and knowledgable people in the government, who can review your foreign policy and come up with some much needed changes.The lack of understanding the world outside USA and to some extent Western-Europe has led USA to make some serious mistakes. Not knowing who committed the horrible terror attack, for the sake of argument let me just make an example: It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that the lack of support to the Palestinians struggle for freedom and selfdetermination is not winning friends in the Arab world while at the same time the oppressers are receiving several billion in aid every year . You may not believe it, but in many places around in the world, some of us have had to stress that we are not Americans in order to be treated politely ! John, 14195 HAS BEEN the established DX window for decades. This is not something new. 73,Pete-K8PT Come to think of it I think you are right. I just hope that some over eager DXers chase away anyone not on a DXpedition (scheduled or not) that calls CQ on the frequency. It's that I have heard some IOTA types that jump in on 14.260 and tell stations to QSY as the frequency belongs to IOTA whether there is activity or not. Thanks input Pete. John N6JM Come to think about it, back in the dark ages when people like Gud Browning was still around the dxpeditions used to transmit around 14115-125, which was not a bad idea. I was told by one of our Indian fellow hams that there are severe military restrictions on Andamen oand Nicobar islands. I dont understand why, but it seems to be a fact. Laccadives is a tourist area and you can get there easily. Getting a permit in India appears to be quite a challenge - also for the natives. They inherited the British bureaucracy and refined it to an extent we find incredible. For an Indian to become a ham, it takes quite an effort.
