[Dx-packages] [Bug 1770146] Re: [MIR] libayatana-appindicator

Title:
  [MIR] libayatana-appindicator

Status in libayatana-appindicator package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  [Availability]
  * Everywhere

  [Rationale]
  * Appindicator is dead, we should move it to universe and switch to the
"better" and "supported" ayatana version
  [Security]
  * No security bugs found

  [Quality assurance]
  * Strongly maintained in Debian, lots of packages in main used to have deltas
to drop and switch to appindicator, I think we will save a lot of work by just
syncing stuff and not maintaining appindicator anymore (at least moving it to
universe)
  [Dependencies]
  * All deps in main
  [Standards compliance]
  * New compat level
  * Maintained in sync with Debian
  * It builds a python2 bind, maybe we can just not MIR all binaries there
  [Maintenance]
  * Debian maintains it, and is doing a port to ayatana of all packages.

  [Background information]
  * I think we can also just MIR libayatana-appindicator3-1

  reverse-depends -c main src:libappindicator -r cosmic
  Reverse-Depends
  ===
  * network-manager-gnome (for libappindicator3-1)
  * remmina   (for libappindicator3-1)
  * transmission-gtk  (for libappindicator3-1)

  all the three packages are now using ayatana in -proposed pocket

With Bileto, it's like uploading to the archive. Once the checks are
passed it's all just copied to -proposed.

The difference between Bileto and a regular PPA is that Bileto does
landing of source *and* binary packages directly into proposed. So these
need to be addressed prior to landing.

Patches welcome.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1760435] Re: Use Ubuntu language packs for various indicators

2018-04-01 Thread Simon Quigley
Hello.

I'll prepare all of the uploads in Bileto:
https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/3221

This is mapped to this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
service/+archive/ubuntu/3221/+packages

I'll upload this set of packages there, but then I'd like some
verification that this is the whole stack that needs these changes. I
also want to know that these changes work...

  Please port your package away from Qt 4

Status in appmenu-qt package in Ubuntu:

Status in appmenu-qt package in Debian:
  Unknown

Bug description:
  Currently Qt 4 has been dead upstream and we are starting to have
  problems maintaining it, like for example in the OpenSSL 1.1 support
  case.

  Following in the footsteps of Debian[1], all packages directly or
  indirectly depending on qt4-x11 (like this one) must either get ported
  to Qt 5 and uploaded to the development release or get removed (by
  means of demotion to -proposed or removal of the package) before the
  19.04 release. If it is possible to port your package by the 18.10
  release, please do so.

  If you have any questions about porting or this transition, please ask
  in #ubuntu-qt (preferred) or directly ping me

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1757320] [NEW] Remove Qt 4 from the archive

2018-03-20 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

Currently Qt 4 has been dead upstream and we are starting to have
problems maintaining it, like for example in the OpenSSL 1.1 support case.

Following in the footsteps of Debian[1], all packages directly or
indirectly depending on qt4-x11 must either get ported to Qt 5 and
uploaded to the development release or get removed (by means of demotion
to -proposed or the whole source package removal) before the 19.04
release. If it is possible to do this by the 18.10 release, please do so.

No new packages entering the Ubuntu archive should depend on qt4-x11 or
any package which directly or indirectly depends on it.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1747331] Re: On booting to desktop in Lubuntu 18.04 daily build, error message shows "The application Notifications has closed unexpectedly."

2018-03-19 Thread Simon Quigley
My best guess is to reassign it to notification-daemon...

** Also affects: notification-daemon (Ubuntu)

Title:
  On booting to desktop in Lubuntu 18.04 daily build, error message
  shows "The application Notifications has closed unexpectedly."

Status in notification-daemon package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Downloaded daily build of Lubuntu 18.04 (i386) last night. Checksum of
  ISO was fine - made bootable USB stick.

  Once desktop appears, a window pops up with the message ""The
  application Notifications has closed unexpectedly." When I pressed the
  "Show Details button", a one-line error description flashed up for a
  second then disappeared before I could note it.

  Running on 2005-era Dell Latitude D610 laptop, with 1.2GB RAM

  Thanks,
  Ken.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1629251] Re: Some app-indicators not showing menus

2018-03-02 Thread Simon Quigley
> Unity is dead; nobody will spend time about it.

You're wrong there, Unity is still maintained and will be for the rest
of the 16.04 cycle at minimum.

Also, about the "mixed install" part of this, that shouldn't matter, as
this is reported against appmenu-qt.

Please, stop marking the status to Invalid. Let's keep it at New where
it belongs.

  Unfortunately it doesn't work with 16.10.

  If I left my ldapi setting using a name as I used to, the login prompt

  The authentication server name resolution works fine on 16.10 (after

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1699216] Re: Encrypted home support

2017-09-05 Thread Simon Quigley
@Jeremy:

If you get a Feature Freeze Exception as defined here[1] or an ack from
a member of the release team, I'll be happy to get it uploaded for you.

I want to upload your patches, I just don't want to break freeze and
have to apologize to the release team... sorry. :/

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1699216] Re: Encrypted home support

2017-08-30 Thread Simon Quigley
Unfortunately it doesn't look like it made it in in time for Feature
Freeze... a Feature Freeze Exception can be written, otherwise this will
have to wait until next cycle.

Thanks!

Title:
  Power indicator favours 'not present' mouse over laptop battery level

Status in indicator-power package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in indicator-power source package in Xenial:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * It's very annoying to see the mouse battery instead of the system
  battery on indicator bar.

  [Test Case]

   * Using Logitech Wireless Mouse M325 or other wireless mouse can see
  this issue.

  [Regression Potential]

   * No regression as I know.

  [Other Info]

   * This is a SRU request for Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial).

  The power indicator shows the battery level for cordless mice and
  keyboards, even when it cannot identify the battery level. This is a
  problem as it seems to favour showing a "not present" mouse status
  over the laptop battery level in the top bar.

  I haven't done a good job of explaining it, so check out the
  screenshot - it will explain all :)

  Basically, the laptop battery should be shown in the top bar if the
mouse/keyboard is "not present".
  Also hiding the mouse and keyboard when the battery level is unknown would
also be useful too :)
