[Dx4win] Problems with XP Conversion

2002-08-17 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Kurt W. Zimmerman)
If you check the on-line help for that error, I think you will find it
documented and how to correct it.

Just installed Windows XP Pro and am having problems loading program.
Error message Could Not Open CW Driver coming up. Also linked sounds are
not coming up. When new spots appear a bell would sound when I was using
Windows 98 but under XP cannot get the bell. Checked sounds in control
panel and working ok. Reloaded program in from original disks but did not
solve problems. Am using Ver 3.05. Any help would be appreciated.

[Dx4win] Problems with XP Conversion

2002-08-17 Thread Pawel, SP7PS
Hello Stu,
I had exactly the same problem few months ago. You need to install FULL
version of Windows XP, not upgrade.
See my post from 10th Jan 2002:

Thanks for all suggestions and help I got from you to solve the problem
with
reading transceiver frequency under Windows XP.
After few days of trying to made work radio and DX4WIN (I installed all XP
supported drivers, reinstalled DX4WIN, etc) I formatted hard drive and
installed Windows XP again, but not as upgrade but full instalation. It is
right now, all my programs work as they should.

So, if you plan to install Windows XP my suggestion is do not make upgrade
from previous operating system, but make new FULL instalation.

Hope, it helps.

[Dx4win] Problems with XP Conversion

2002-08-17 Thread Duane A Calvin
I assume what you're saying is true for DX4WIN 3.05 and not 5.03? I ran
the upgrade version of WinXP Home and the CW keying worked fine on 5.03
by either following the instructions to install the driver or by
reinstalling DX4WIN 5.03. I can't speak to 3.05...

[Dx4win] Problems with XP Conversion

2002-08-17 Thread Pawel, SP7PS
Hello Duane,
I use version 5.03. After upgrade from Win 98 SE I had problem with DX4WIN
and only DX4WIN. Other softwares, e.g. WriteLog, Logger, MMTTY,
ChromaPix worked right All the problems with DX4WIN ran away after full
install of WinXP Home Edition.

[Dx4win] Still Need Windows XP Help

2002-08-17 Thread STU
Can anybody help me to get the CW driver working with Windows XP. The F keys
work and the pre-set CW messages scroll, but the radio won't key. Also for
some reason the spotter bell will not ring while using packet radio. The
packet spots come up OK but the bell will not ring. Everything else is
working great and I really like XP and would like to continue to use it,
without having to revert back to Windows 98. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Stu,
Please confirm what version of DX4WIN you are running. The two
responses I know you have gotten were for 5.03, and I think you wrote you
are using version 3.05!

Which raises an interesting question -- why expect a program that was
written before the XP operating system even existed to be able to operate
well under it. Yes, I know XP is descended from Windows NT, but the
devil's in the details. In any case, time to upgrade.
