[Dx4win] PSK31 Question
Last night I was working PSK31 and encountered some problems. In DX4WIN = I could receive fine but could not transmit. In WinPSKse and Digipan, = neither would transmit as long as I had DX4WIN running. I am assuming it has something to do with DX4WIN grabbing COM8 where my RigBlaster Pro is located. I can get both WinPSKse and Digipan to work when DX4WIN is not running. I thought I remembered that these programs used to work when DX4WIN was running but I might be mistaken. I was never able to get = DX4WIN to transmit on PSK31, though. Any help? =20 73's Alan, N5PA --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment. [Dx4win] Confused About Spot Prioritization
I guess I really don't know how to make the spot prioritization work for me. I have the following problems: 1. I am working to increase the confirmed band count (i.e. 5 band DXCC is a goal). I have the alert unconfirmed country checked on the packet preferences, yet I see unconfirmed country/band combinations show up in priorities 1,3 and 5. I thought that they would show up as priority 1. Clearly I do not know how to make it work for me. See also the next one which really tends to mess up the screen when there is a lot going on. 2. Priority 2 seems to dominate the screen. I am not interested in it right now and don't know how to get it off the screen or at least out of the way. I have to make the spot window almost full height on a 19 inch monitor and the proirity 2 spots frequently push ones I want off the screen unless I manually delete them. Deleting spots over 2 hours old helps a bit, but doesn't solve the problem when things are active. What am I doing wrong and how do I configure to get what I want? Thanks Stan, N3HS
[Dx4win] Confused About Spot Prioritization
If you are working for 5 band DXCC, try a different approach. Work every spot you see that is priority 1,2, or 3. Turn off the modes for DXCC that you are not interested in such as digital modes and cw. Priority 1 is a new country that has never been worked before on any band, so you need all of those. Priority 2 is a new Mode, and for most of us that is a lot higher than a new band country, so you normally need all of those unless you do not work a particular mode, which you can turn off in preferences. Be sure that the DXCC tab in preferences is set for the modes, bands, and separate band awards that you wish to go for. The worked cutoff and mailed cutoff can be temporarily set to 20,000 to be sure that is not affecting the spots you want. There is also a button in preferences called DX alerts that affects the spots that you want. 5 Band DXCC normally comes to those that work and confirm countries routinely on the easy bands, then you spend all of your time counting the 40 and 80 meter confirmations, then eventually 12, 17, 30, and 160 meter bands. DX4WIN makes the record keeping effortless, though. With LOTW, the time to get the award should be much faster, but the cost is still high. p.s. you can change the color scheme of the spots, but I would do that only as a last resort. Setting preferences correctly is a much better way. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Stan Staten Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2004 6:28 PM To: DX4WIN Subject: [Dx4win] Confused About Spot Prioritization I guess I really don't know how to make the spot prioritization work for me.
