[Dx4win] keyboard

2009-01-01 Thread Courtney Judd K4WI
Hi all,and HNY! I am looking for some advice on keyboards. I am thinking
about purchasing a wireless keyboard with built in trackball. I have found
several on the internet...most made by Adesso...some with trackball; others
with touchpad. I currently use a trackball; prefer it over a standard
mouse. How does a touchpad work? Am I going to like going to a built in
all-in-one for contesting and general logging with Writelog and/or DX4WIN?
Any comments or suggestions welcomed! 73's Cort K4WI

RE: [Dx4win] keyboard

2009-01-01 Thread Dave Sharred
And Cort, this was my reply to Steve:
I must have bought it over 2 years ago now Steve; and am in the main very
happy with it.

I chose it as a Bluetooth device; I realised that 27MHz was not going to
work; a lot of products (then) never stated the frequency, and just said
Wireless. I checked the FCC number on these devices; and found the
certification to be for 27MHz, so that ruled out most devices.

The MX5000 I had was rather expensive at the time (?80 I think); but I think
was a good investment. It is a plastic case ; the Keyboard has many fancy
features that I rarely use in the shack ! The mouse uses a rechargeable
battery and stand, and has good life; the keyboard uses 4 AA batteries; I
never turn it off, but a set last 9 months or more

 - At home and IOM, I never heard any noises from it whatsoever.
- At home, I have never caused it any grief, even with my 91B !
- At IOM, in a M/M environment, sometimes the keyboard had a latency build
up - it would have delayed characters as seen by the screen. This was not
too significant, everything got sent eventually. Put some people off, but
didn't worry me too much. It has never sent garbled characters, or locked
up !

The only other issue is that sometimes the keyboard unpairs itself - the
mouse never does. I don't know though if this is to do with me - often I
still use the main keyboard , unless I am doing some serious work ! So I am
not sure if it unpairs if it is not being used. It is very simple to pair
it again to the blue tooth dongle.

Great timing on the post Cort, because I am also thinking along the same
lines.

Although more expensive, I think that Bluetooth - as opposed to the 27 MHz
'wireless' - is the way to go and I have been recommended the Logitech
MX5000 wireless keyboard and mouse. Haven't made any purchase yet though,
so would be very interested to hear from others with their recommendations.

Happy New Year

[Dx4win] Touch pads Keyboards

2009-01-01 Thread Ken Kopp

An observation

I find it annoying to remember to keep my thumbs and/or fingers
off the touchpad when I -don't- to move the cursor. Unintended
touches can cause errors and cases of where's the cursor now?

Does anyone recognize the small keyboard used in the Yaesu ads?

Have a good year all, and ...

[Dx4win] Remove items in note field ?

2009-01-01 Thread Vanderydt Theo

Hi all,
I want to remove some information in the Notes for this QSL field:
eg: Freq=14.0 MHz|CQ WW DX Contest - Phone. I want to remove the first part
of this line iow Freq=14.0 MHz. Is there a way to do this for multiple
logbook entries ?

I have about 4 entries who need to be edited this way.
Any suggestions ?

Thanks on forehand,
HNY 2009 de Theo ON4ATW.

[Dx4win] unable to sort logbook view by country

2009-01-01 Thread Mark Lunday, WD4ELG
I can do this by prefix, which is almost the same, but I want to see it by
country. That is not an available option in the selection dropdown for the
report editor. Suggestions on what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Happy New
Year
