[Dx4win] (no subject)

2009-06-04 Thread Peg Haese KB9LIE

One thing I would like to see added eventually is options under QSL Method to
show online and email requests, like the dxpeditions are offering. Or maybe
someone has a suggestion?

I'm sure there are many ways to do this, but when I use an alternate
method, I'll typically use the Other option and either put a note in
the Notes for this QSO or sometimes put the additional info in the QSL
manager field (if it's very short; that field has a pretty limited length).

However, it would be nice to have website and email as options in
the dropdown, with possibly a dedicated field for those that gets
remember on a per-callsign basis (like the manager info).

I use Other.

Re: [Dx4win] QSL Methods dropdown list

2009-06-04 Thread Peg Haese KB9LIE

I use Other for something else, like an alert to not bothering QSLing, with a
note in the QSO Notes field. Maybe Ignore would work for that too.

I do put notes in the QSO field to indicate non-standard requests.

The option, which I never figured out what it meant except maybe beware
of green stamp collector, is nice for being able to do a special search. Like
when our club had an award for working 100 entities in a 12-month period. The
OM and I both got it. I could use the Satellite field next time since I don't
work the birds.

Anyway I thought these additions to the Methods list would be useful in the
future and didn't think it would be terribly hard to program. However I am not
a programmer.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN.AWD version 1.17 released

2009-06-04 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
The folks at the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society, particularly John
Huggins, KX4O, provided me with an updated listing, as well as an easy
way to get updates in the future.

Karl, K1KO, kindly transcribed the Russian Lighthouse Award listing
for me. Thanks, Karl!

I have a World Flora Fauna listing which I will convert to DX4WIN
format by the weekend, when I should be able to provide a new awards
database to everyone.

I wanted to put this in a separate note so it wouldn't get lost in the
 announcement.

As I wrote in the previous message, I am waiting for the ARLHS award
manager to get back to me with a current list.

I was planning on adding RLHA (Russian Lighthouse Award), but I need
English translations for some of the names.  I would appreciate if a
 native speaker can help me.

Also, I had considered adding actual reference numbers for the DCI
(Italian Castles) award, but there are almost 12,000 numbers, and it
would increase the size of the DX4WIN award file by about 30%.  It's
still a possibility if people are tracking this award - please let me
 know.

The World Flora Fauna award (http://www.wff44.com/en/) is starting to
become popular.  Is anyone interested in this award?  It should not be
too hard to create an award file for it.
