Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc
According to the revision history a similar problem was solved with version 7.03. But then Esc should not work with 7.02. 73, Kjell, PB3SM - SM6CPI -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Erkki Heikkinen Sent: 25 December 2009 07:19 To: 'Nodir Tursoon-Zadeh'; 'John Shaw'; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc OK, now I found it (QSO entry window). Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc
The earliest version of DX4WIN on my computer is 7.04.04. It behaves just like 8.03 in the Special Keys mode as do 7.05, 7.06 and 7.07. Probably not many people are using this function. I, for one, never tried it before I read about Nodir's mention about it here. At least on my setup, two ticks on the DIT paddle stops the transmission. [Dx4win] RES: 8.03 CW Keying problems.
Hi Guy I´m also facing the same problem with 8.03. I done the procedure and still not working 73 Oms PY5EG De: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net em nome de ON4AOI Enviada: sex 25/12/2009 09:56 Para: 'David Kozinn, K2DBK' Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Assunto: Re: [Dx4win] 8.03 CW Keying problems. Hi David, For those that have this problem I can suggest the following COM(x), PTT DELAY = 1 (should never be set to 0), DTR = CW KEYING , RTS = PTT (DTR and RTS can be reversed if the comport outputs are reversed connected) (This is related to the CW|circuit diagram in the helpfile) If this doesn´t work then you need to take a full backup of the DX4W803 directory On another device (USB stick-network drive etc) If you are sure that all is on save place Goto DX4W803|SAVE directory and DELETE DX4WIN.CFG and DX4WIN.INI Close DX4WIN Restart DX4WIN and setup everything like you feel it should be Radio-packet-cw etc, check out if CW is working now. B4 saving in preferences write also a dx4win.ini file. Close DX4WIN again Go again with explorer into DX4W803|SAVE directory and DELETE DX4WIN.CFG Restart dx4win Goto preferences and merge the ini file that you have written a few minutes b4 If it worked in your first setup it should do it now also, Why I suggest this is because sometimes some previous settings remain in the CFG and INI Files, they doesn´t belong there anymore Guy ON4AOI -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win- boun...@mailman.qth.net] Namens David Kozinn, K2DBK Verzonden: donderdag 24 december 2009 17:49 Aan: dx4win list Onderwerp: [Dx4win] 8.03 CW Keying problems. Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc
Documentation says: If there is text left in the CW keyboard, pressing the Esc key will empty the CW keyboard. Pressing the Esc key with no characters in the CW keyboard will stop adding QSOs. Never bothered me because, though I use the function, a touch of the paddle aborts sending... which suits me fine. Re documented use... I don't really like it because if you hit escape near the end of a transmission you can inadvertently escape real-time entry... something you normally are not in a hurry to do... I think a shift-escape or CTL-escape or possible F9 toggle would me more appropriate to exit real-time entry as John suggested, and I would also change it when the special keys are not enabled for consistency. Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc
Guy, Paul if your looking. I hope you do find time to restore this functionality to the CW keyboard. When you are the DX working pileups it is invaluable to be able to send partial replies/calls and cancel the rest with precise timing, the way the ESC key used to work allowed you to do this, ditting on the paddle would not be accurate or convenient enough in these situations. The exiting of entry mode and loosing the call already typed totally destroys any rhythm in pile up operation. Enough said on this one for now, thanks for listening. See you all in the pileups 2010. 73 John ZL1BYZ. -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of ON4AOI Sent: Saturday, 26 December 2009 2:52 a.m. To: 'Mel' Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] CW and Esc Mel, I think you mis understood what I was writing Maybe it´s because my english is 100% correct In short here again, ¨Not many users are using or aware of this possibility doesn´t mean it will not be fixed¨ Guy ON4AOI Merry Christmas! [Dx4win] Re-Start
Hola from Panama - i did purchase the new version 8 and installed it some time back. Was working for the most part, but did have an issue with FJ not being correct and a couple other items, that didn't prevent me from using it. I was away a couple months - Apr to June and as was tending my wife (post surgery) to latter part of the year, was mostly concentrating on collecting new entities for DXCC Submits (post issue of the #1641 160m DXCC). My laptop was stolen (Break Entry) and lost all that data. Our system here (wireless but very slow, like 5-10 kB!) and finally located an Apr log that I had placed on the Ext HD - thankfully! So am now attempting to re-enter the DX4WIN in a new laptop, and only gets me to a DEMO page. I did have several saved logs, and same thing will them. I have put the Lic and Invoice as indicated. But, seems is a step missing here? Only getting the Demo version. What's missing here? Appreciate your assists, as able. Have a great Xmas Holiday and New Year next week.
