Re: [Dx4win] CW keying issue

2010-01-05 Thread Kostas Stamatis
Maybe someone with the problem can try this to tell me if it works (it
worked in one of my friends).
Do a right click on dx4win icon and in properties choose to run it always as
administrator (if you have 7 or vista).
I wonder if XP users with the problem have administrator rights?
Just an idea.

 HNY All,
 Like I asked before I like the following info
From those that have the keying problem

 Example
 OS: VISTA HOME
 Brand of LAPTOP = HP DV9700
 Real Serial on MB = NO
 Real serial via add on board = NO
 USB to serial = YES brand GEMBIRD
 To be sure check in control panel|system|devicemanager
 if the comport is installed ok
 normally it should be
 9600 = Baud
 8 bits
 None=parity
 1 stopbit
 None=flow control

 DX4WIN SETUP
 COMPORT = COM1 (my case)
 DELAY = 1
 CW = DTR
 PTT = RTS (can be set to none if using vox or full break in)

Re: [Dx4win] CW keying issue

2010-01-05 Thread Ian Trusson
Kostas

I am using Windows 7 and always log on as an administrator. Right clicking
the DX4WIN logo and clicking run as administrator makes no difference as far
as I can see. I still cannot get the CW keying to work with DX4WIN.

[Dx4win] Data file updates coming

2010-01-05 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I plan to update some of the DX4WIN data files late the evening of
Wednesday, 1/5 (that's Thursday morning GMT):

- DX4WIN.AWD  (awards)
- DX4WIN.MAS2 (eQSL/LoTW member lists)
- DX4WIN.TCP  (telnet addresses)

I hope that as part of the award release, I'll be able to generate
members lists for certain awards, which can then be imported into the
.MAS2 file.

There are very sketchy release notes for the award update at:

   http://dx4win.ad1c.us/awards/

(maybe I'll try updating the list later today).

Please let me know of any changes before then.

[Dx4win] Wish List

2010-01-05 Thread W9RPM
Hi, I really like the option to choose between different radios quickly.
Would it be hard to be able to include more than 2 in the next release? I
would personally like to see 4. This is especially handy on VHF/UHF with
different radios, not the all in one. Thanks- John W9RPM

I asked for this for ver 8... but apparently it requires a fair bit of
work. Perhaps Paul has it on his todo list...

[Dx4win] dx4win and Orion

2010-01-05 Thread w1dxh

Thanks to all for replies to my question. I sucessfully got my Orion to work
with dx4win. Seems I had an issue with the firmware I was using. A quik call to
TenTec service got me squared away and with there help a newer version of
firmware installed.

[Dx4win] Molex connectors for Icom.

2010-01-05 Thread Mel
They are *not* Molex connectors... though I've even seen some web sites
incorrectly call them that. They will not mate properly with similar
Molex connectors. The originals are made by JST in Japan. They also make
most of the board connectors used by Icom... or did when I last checked
a while back (10 years ago).

The problem with this is that it would require a proprietary hardware
interface. The existing two-radio switching uses the industry
standard LPT pin 14 toggle that's been around since the days of DOS
loggers such as CT and TR. Paul even made the logic of this control
line selectable to work with NA in Version 7. This convention works
well with several commercially-available SO2R switch boxes such as
the Top Ten DX Doubler I use. Using more than one LPT pin to do the
radio selection would require some sort of decoding hardware to do
the switching. I suppose pin 14 could serve as the least significant
bit of a two-bit radio select word and it would be up to the user to
come up with a custom switchbox to switch the various audio and
control lines among the four radios. I know of no hardware that
supports more than two radios.
