[Dx4win] Beyond Sync - has anyone tried it?

2010-08-22 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

Has anyone used Beyond Sync to synchronize/backup their DX4WIN data in
real-time?

http://www.beyondsync.com/

I just installed it an it seems to be a promising replacement for
Iomega Automatic Backup (I'm still using 1.0.2 on my WinXP ham
computer).

Note that this is NOT a replacement for a daily full/incremental local
or off-line backup.

I use another freeware backup program, Syncback by One Bight Spark
Software - it very nicely backs up selected directories and files from
my computer and my wife's, over our network to my USB drive, on a
nightly schedule. Takes about 5 seconds a night unless we have change a
*lot* of files.

I use Cobian Backup. Used it for a few years now. No problems and it's free.

It also backs up selected changed files like Iomega does. I use
SynchBack Pro and it handles all of my normal system backup needs as
well as D4W changed files. http://www.2brightsparks.com

What was the mode that it complained about, and what version of DX4WIN
were you using? I have had NO trouble uploading to LoTW and eQSL using
7.07 and 8.0x. Note that PSK is *not* an ADIF mode, you must choose
PSK31 (or PSK63 if it's available). This is a common mistake.

Re: [Dx4win] Beyond Sync - has anyone tried it?

2010-08-22 Thread Dick Flanagan
Syncback does both. You can select the source, destination and
whether timed or in real-time.

I have Syncback keeping an eye on my D4W/save directory. It backs up
any file in that directory as soon as it changes (in real-time), it
backs up the entire /save directory daily (timed) and my entire D4W
directory weekly (timed). You tell it what you want backed up, where
it is to go and the conditions under which it should be done.

I have all my backups written to a networked RAID-1 drive in another
part of the house.

What I am saying is that if you logged QSOs as PSK mode, then you will
have problems. They have to be PSK31 (or PSK63 or PSK125) for the QSOs
to export correctly as ADIF.

The PSK mode was removed in 8.0x.
