Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Windows 7

2012-01-25 Thread Jesse Wall
Steve,

I have DX4WIN version 8.05 installed on both Win7-64 bit and 32-bit. Runs
with no problem. If you use the LPT port for CW keying you have to install a
driver (No experience her, as I use my keyer and paddle).

Install was no problem in the default folder. If you try to install in the
Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, you may run into some issues.
Windows 7 denies browsing access to these folders by default and it causes
problems with some apps, so I really recommend you install to C:\dx4winxxx.

My old faithful PC running XP is getting a bit long in the tooth, so I have
a new W7 machine on order.

This may well have been covered off on previous posts, I admit to not yet
having done a complete search, but what's the current thinking on pit falls
to be aware of when doing a new installation ?

(this, or similar, will be on the microHAM Writelog reflectors also, so
apologies if you read this more than once)

This is timely... I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine on order as well, and have
the same questions.

GL with the new computers.
I prefer XP for ham use but i use win 7 in my laptop which occasionaly use
for ham radio. Install dx4win outside programs directory. MMTTY also.
Generally ham programs is good to install outside programs directory. This
is probably because our programs usually update themselves. Writelog goes to
its default directory but is has solved many problems it had at the start.
Microham router works ok but you can not manage soundcard via router
anymore. Windows keeps this function for them.
Finally i think that win7 are good, maybe better than xp for general use but
not for ham radio... Ofcourse this is my opinion only

[Dx4win] DX4WIN cant reduce CW speed?

2012-01-25 Thread George
I have been able to operate CW with my WinKey and DX4WIN in the CW window
with the WinKey connected to a Com port. The past few days I can't slow down
the key speed?? It loads at 55wpm and I use the - key and the CW window
indicates 20wpm where I set it but it is still sending 55WPM?
It works fine when I run Ham Radio Deluxe and it's DM780 program using the
same WinKey box.
I use my operation in a remote operation and I can't hear the CW when I'm
running remote so the window says 20wpm and I'm assuming it's sending at
20wpm but it is going at 55wpm when I test it in the shack.
Anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks.
