Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Digest, Vol 95, Issue 9

2012-03-10 Thread Sidney Will
I also use a TS-590s with dx4win 8.05. I use TS870 and
9600 with the USB port. (You must first download the
Kenwood USB driver) Good luck

Re: [Dx4win] Setting Filter for Adding QSO Notes?

2012-03-10 Thread N7KA
I use Notes for this Call if I want to see same info on subsequent QSOs.  Notes
for This QSO is just that as info can be different from QSO to QSO, like
antenna, power, rig, etc.

I do not see an option in Multiple QSO Operations (v8.04) for adding the same
QSO note to multiple, sequential QSOs.  If it is possible to do so, how,
please?

[Dx4win] radio interface times out

2012-03-10 Thread David Edwards
No answers have surfaced for my CAT control problem using vspMGR, DX4WIN and
Flex 5K
Many responses saying I have the same problem if you find an answer let me
know.
Using PowerSDR 2.3.5 on Windows 7. Latest vspMGR and DX4WIN 8.05.
Serial pair COM14(PowerSDR) and COM15 (DX4WIN)
Tried lots of combinations or retry 5-20 and poll rate 500-5000 ms
Uninstalled and reinstalled vspMGR
Anybody have an idea if this a PowerSDR, Windows, vspMGR or DX4WIN issue?
Trying to isolate root cause for a start.
thanks

Re: [Dx4win] radio interface times out

2012-03-10 Thread ON4AOI
Don´t remenber how I got it working here
when I wrote the Dx4win rigfile for the flexradio
but one thing I do remember is the hugh problems I had
with VSPMGR.
Sure is that you need to start vspmgr every time with administrator rights
Not just set it in the shortcut.

I stopped using vspmgr due to many problems with other software and windows
vista/7
Solution is the device router from microham, there serial splitter (Eltima
drivers)
never fail(ed) but that’s probably not what you are looking for.

Re: [Dx4win] Setting Filter for Adding QSO Notes?

2012-03-10 Thread Dan Violette
Instead of delete the QSOs I think you can have duplicates replace
original instead during the import (option pops up). Make a copy of your
log before you begin to cover for mess ups. Dan KI6X

P.S. From other notes, If important enough, I can try DX4WIN on Windows 8
sometime. I was not planning to try since I do not see using Windows 8 for
a few years (and have other things to do). Just built new PC last summer
with Win 7 and not interested to change. I did install the Win8 preview on
a spare drive to try out but have barely touched it yet.

DX4Win can't do it. I believe Jim's import program can populate a note, so
you would have to export, delete and re-import.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN UNder VMplayer?

2012-03-10 Thread Wayne
Actually DX4W805 works just fine on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. It also
works in VMWare Player with a Host of Linux using a guest of Windows 7
or Windows 8 CP. I have not tested CAT control but using a Microham MK2
with USB will make cat work. Need to try MK2 and Router 7.7.1 on Windows
8 as I have not had time to try that yet.

[Dx4win] Windows 7 64-bit BSOD Resolved

2012-03-10 Thread Byron Peebles
It's been quite some time since I was satisfied with my DX4WIN host,
a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate install. Although I had all the latest patches,
and quite a few amulets, I just could not get away from experiencing the
infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and a similarly annoying pause
that seemed to happen at all the wrong moments, like when I was just
about to acknowledge a call back from some rare DX station who was about
to QRT.

Tonight I was about to throw in the towel and punt. I had done all kinds of
system upgrades, bought better keyer interfaces, improved the
USB-serial hardware,
and installed everything there was to install, and more, and more than once.

In one last moment of try anything - it can't get worse I was down to
the point
where only the keyboard and the power button worked, neither of which
are USB.

So, I connected my USB mouse to a port it had never been connected to
before.
The system thought a minute, installed the drivers and the mouse lit.
It worked.
I repeated this process with each item, the Fast Serial interface, the
WinkeyUSB,
the label printer, the UPS. They all worked. So, I rebooted. Repeatedly.
I rebooted more than I'd been able to reboot without a BSOD in, well,
forever.
No problem.

There was one item on the desk that was no longer connected. A
bargain-priced
Rosewell 7-port USB hub. I had noticed that connecting an FTDI-based
device to
port 4 of this thing caused an instant BSOD, so I left it disconnected.
Forever.

After the job of again working DX without worrying I'd access my log again,
I did a little search engine exercise and found other people describing
the same
scenario that included this hub. It was a common thread in the
descriptions,
and it was common to two computers that had a similar problem.

So, I see the occasional posting here about BSOD, so check the USB hub.
Might be a hit.

73, Byron

PS. Yes, the downside is that box is still running Windows. :-)
