Re: [Dx4win] WPX LOTW versus DX4WIN

2012-07-16 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
My experience is similar. With over 100K QSOs, DX4WIN reports that I should
have over 2000 WPX confirmed on LoTW alone. The LoTW web site shows 238.

A week after I wrote this, and my total is up to a whopping 252 mixed
prefixes. Wow. Something's going really slowly...

Re: [Dx4win] WPX LOTW versus DX4WIN

2012-07-16 Thread Jim - N4ST
Yeah, I'm only averaging 1 or 2 per day being added to my WPX Mixed total.
I did go in and manually add some just to see it work, but at 12 cents each,
I will get my WPX 1000 endorsement sticker via eQSL instead of paying $120
to LoTW.
I am a big big fan of LoTW, but not in this case. A while back you could
buy credits for your QSLs from LoTW and if you bought in bulk, the price
went down, now it's a flat 12 cents each.

Re: [Dx4win] WPX LOTW versus DX4WIN

2012-07-16 Thread Art - W6KY
I found out what the problem is at LOTW.
They are using a DEC PDP-8 to sort and
match the 434 million QSO database.

I am up to 191 matches out of 2879 WPX
confirmed in DX4WIN.

Plus, on what planet am I going to pay
10 cents per conformed QSO when I can
get unlimited for $10 or so direct to CQ.

I must be missing something.

I have uploaded over 73,000 QSO to LOTW and have 26,451 QSL records.

However, I only have 184 mix WPX. For that many QSL records, I would have
expected a ton of unique call signs.

DX4WIN shows 750 WPX confirmed.

Maybe I need to download the WPX file from LOTW and do a cross check?

Re: [Dx4win] WPX LOTW versus DX4WIN

2012-07-16 Thread Wayne M
Hey guys,
Why would you use LOTW if all you need is a printout of calls and no
cards unless CQ wants to see a card? I would think there is some more
ironing out to do here for anyone to use LOTW for this.I don't think you
even need eQSL for WPX.

I only have 64 mixed on LOTW so far when DX4W reports 1100+.

Per the CQ Awards Rules:

 F. Cards need not be sent, but they must be in the possession of the
applicant. Any and all cards may be requested by the WPX Award
Manager or by the CQ Awards Committee.

That begs an interesting question. Presuming you do what you say,
will those credits be back-annotated into the LoTW database, or will
LoTW try to submit the same prefixes for credit *again*, even though
you had done the initial submission using eQSL?

Now I have to go check my eQSL prefix totals

[Dx4win] interesting, no 6M DX4WIN

2012-07-16 Thread George
I've clicked on everything 6 meters in preferences and cannot get 6 to
appear in the same call window or Country window or in my reports???
What else do I have to click on to get 6 to appear as a band? With the 6
openings I'm working Countries but I can't see if I've worked them before in
the Country window.
I'm running the latest version of DX4WIN, version 8.05 with W7.
I've tried un-clicking and saving preferences and going back and clicking 6
and saving preferences, shutting down DX4WIN and re-starting it again, no
help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
