Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win ADIF Importing Question

2021-02-04 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Mike,

Thanks. I looked at it on Jim's website.

What isn't clear to me is how I measure and correlate the location of the
ADIF field identifying the contest to where it goes in DX4Win

I thought about using the Cabrillo file, but the contest name is found only
in the file header.

The other issue, which may be easier to answer is to bulk move the group
name to the Notes for this QSO field.

Any suggestions?

The microHAM line of digital interfaces provides two virtual COM ports
for the radio. I've been using them for 15 (?) years with mostly ICOM
but also Yaesu radios. Never a problem.

Hello Eric,

AD1C wrote a utility for this:

It works very well.

I'd like to import contest logs ADIF file files into DX 4 Win, adding the
contest name (which is in the ADIF file) into the "Notes for this QSO"
field, as I use the Group field for my various callsigns.

Is this possible? If so, how do I do it? I assume I can't add the contents
of that field to my QSL message

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control

2021-02-04 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
I run DX4WIN and WSJT-X side by side on the screen.

However, like you I have never found a way to have both programs get access to
the transceiver (CAT Control) at the same time. Yes, I tried the various port
sharing and splitting programs with the same results you did.

Therefore, I operate in a compromise. With both programs side by side, I use
the Stop Radio command in DX4WIN to stop the program from accessing the port
(CAT control). DX4WIN and all its other functions are still on the screen, it
just isn't accessing the rig.

I then use WSJT-X to the full extent with its access to the port and CAT
Control.

If I want to go on CW or other modes using DX4WIN, I must close WSJT-X
completely and then Start Radio on DX4WIN. Unfortunately, there is no similar
Stop Radio command in WSJT-X, so I must close the program completely.

Yes, it is a compromise but it works for me.

Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control

I have used DX4WIN for many years. I use WSJT-X for FT8.

I want both programs to have simultaneous full access to my transceiver through
the one COM port that is used for data transfer and control of the transceiver.

I have tried many port sharing and port splitting software programs without
success. The two programs work for a few minutes, but when one of the programs
polls the port, the other program loses connection to the port.

Has anyone found a way to do what I want to accomplish?

I have been advised that Ham Radio Deluxe has the desired capability, but I
don't want to switch from DX4WIN to HRD.

[Dx4win] Satellite QSO and LoTW - Upload error

2021-02-04 Thread Frank Klop
Hi all,

I’m running into problems with upload of satellite QSO’s to LoTW. For a
satellite QSO to be accepted by LOTW using TQSL, it has to have PROP_MODE set
to SAT and an accepted satellite name in SAT_NAME.
See: https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/satellite-qsos/?lang=en

The ARRL maintains a list of accepted satellites. Unfortunately, the list in
dx4win is not up to date with the ARRL list. So for example I enter RS-44 QSO’s
(a very popular and active satellite) in dx4win as “Other” (with RS-44 in the
notes field) which is then rejected by TQSL.

Of course, this can be fixed manually with TQSL or any ADIF editor after export
and before upload to LoTW, but IMHO this defeats the propose of such an
intelligent log program as dx4win. Apart from this, RS-44 QSO’s still remain
sort of invisible with search etc.

So can someone please update the list of satellites in dx4win to comply with
ARRL LoTW requirements?

Thanks and best 73
Frank DH4FR / PA4FR
