Re: [Dx4win] Radio control with no serial port question
Todd, You need to load the device drivers so it shows up as a com port. Then, you can double click it, go to the Port Settings tab, click advanced and set the com port you want to use. I first started out using DK-1201 labels, which are 1.1" x 3.5" (28.9mm x 90.3mm) which were fine other than that each label had to be trimmed as they are wider than the space on my card. I then tried the DK-1209 label, which is 1.1" x 2.4" (28.9mm x 62mm). For some reason I cannot explain or figure out how to cure, the printable space in height is less than with the 1201 label, which is the same size. I've tried adjusting all of the tweakable parameters in DX4Win, but can't expand that space. Can anyone help? Thanks, 73 & Happy New Year! Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Windows 7
Steve, I have DX4WIN version 8.05 installed on both Win7-64 bit and 32-bit. Runs with no problem. If you use the LPT port for CW keying you have to install a driver (No experience her, as I use my keyer and paddle). Install was no problem in the default folder. If you try to install in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, you may run into some issues. Windows 7 denies browsing access to these folders by default and it causes problems with some apps, so I really recommend you install to C:\dx4winxxx. 73, Jesse, KA8YYZ --- dx4win-requ...@mailman.qth.net wrote: From: dx4win-requ...@mailman.qth.net To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: DX4WIN Digest, Vol 93, Issue 27 Date: Wed, 25 Jan 2012 12:06:06 -0500 Send DX4WIN mailing list submissions to dx4win@mailman.qth.net To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to dx4win-requ...@mailman.qth.net You can reach the person managing the list at dx4win-ow...@mailman.qth.net When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than Re: Contents of DX4WIN digest... I prefer XP for ham use but i use win 7 in my laptop which occasionaly use for ham radio. Install dx4win outside programs directory. MMTTY also. Generally ham programs is good to install outside programs directory. This is probably because our programs usually update themselves. Writelog goes to its default directory but is has solved many problems it had at the start. Microham router works ok but you can not manage soundcard via router anymore. Windows keeps this function for them. Finally i think that win7 are good, maybe better than xp for general use but not for ham radio... Ofcourse this is my opinion only 73 Kostas sv1dpi - Original Message - From: S.K. k...@yahoo.com To: Steve GW4BLE steve.gw4...@btconnect.com;
Re: [Dx4win] QRZ Error : Database not found
Hello Toshimi, I have not tried the QRZ database installed locally, but you may want to try installing it in another location besides Program Files x86). All of the Program Files folders in Windows 7 have the browse option set in the security tab to EVERYONE - DENY. This may be your problem. In Windows DENY access overrides ALLOWED permissions. I have had this issue with a couple of programs. Try installing to something like C:\QRZDB Please let all of us know if this worked or not. Good luck, Jesse KA8YYZ --- dx4win-requ...@mailman.qth.net wrote: Message: 3 Date: Thu, 1 Dec 2011 09:05:01 +0900 From: Toshimi Horie je2...@gmail.com Subject: [Dx4win] QRZ Error : Database not found To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net dx4win@mailman.qth.net Message-ID: cadu7z+yh0fcbvgavcxset_qf5cyns5xo6qjko9yyzgyyekb...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hi all.
