Re: [Dx4win] Radio control with no serial port question

2016-03-30 Thread Jesse Wall
Todd,

You need to load the device drivers so it shows up as a com port. Then, you can
double click it, go to the Port Settings tab, click advanced and set the com
port you want to use.

It shows up under system devices as an unknown device (didn’t know if I had
some device driver for the radio on the old box I’m forgetting about?) as I can
see it come and go if I plug/unplug the USB cable but doesn’t show up as a port
option. Is there a device driver I need installed for the radio (Yaesu FT920)
that I’m totally forgetting about or something like that? I feel stupid
because I obviously had it working on the old computer but can’t get this one
going. Both were/are running Vista but that’s a whole other story

Howard – not radio settings, they are all fine (baud rate, etc.) it’s a com
port connectivity issue.

Date: Wed, 30 Dec 2015 23:21:38 -0500

I've started using a Brother one-label-at-a-time label maker, the
QL-550, with DX4Win v8.05 It's a very nice printer, and much easier to
deal with than a conventional printer and sheets of labels.

I first started out using DK-1201 labels, which are 1.1" x 3.5" (28.9mm
x 90.3mm) which were fine other than that each label had to be trimmed
as they are wider than the space on my card.

I then tried the DK-1209 label, which is 1.1" x 2.4" (28.9mm x 62mm).
For some reason I cannot explain or figure out how to cure, the
printable space in height is less than with the 1201 label, which is the
same size.

I've tried adjusting all of the tweakable parameters in DX4Win, but
can't expand that space.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, 73 & Happy New Year!

Ron,

Close your log. Open the QSL Manager database, and make an entry with no

Hello,

I have been doing some work in my log version 8.05.

I worked a DX station several times. The first three contact that I made
with the station had a QSL manager, now he does not. But the QSL manager
call sign keeps popping up in the window.

Any way of correcting this small issue? I am sure I am over looking

This goes to the internal speaker which used to be in the old computers

So, I went in the awards preferences and changed the start date for all WAS

Why does it not calculate from the new start date?

It only shows up when you have uploaded those files.
No trace afterwards, if b4 28/11/2012 you probably need to upload

Well for me, the clublog feature was exactly what I wanted in this case,
but I can see where there might be other variations as well. None of the
examples that I can think of (including the one I started this thread

interesting things you can find out.

[Dx4win] No telnet connection

2012-08-03 Thread Jesse Wall
Tom,

Check in Preferences, on the Packet1 tab, that the Cluster interface Type is
set to regular and the COM Port is set to TCP/IP.

I have had to totally reload all the programs on my computer. In doing so, I
cannot seem to get the Telnet cluster going again. The window comes up and if I
try to connect, I don't get the possible links to connect to any more.
Suggestions anyone?

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Windows 7

2012-01-25 Thread Jesse Wall
Steve,

I have DX4WIN version 8.05 installed on both Win7-64 bit and 32-bit. Runs
with no problem. If you use the LPT port for CW keying you have to install a
driver (No experience her, as I use my keyer and paddle).

Install was no problem in the default folder. If you try to install in the
Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, you may run into some issues.
Windows 7 denies browsing access to these folders by default and it causes
problems with some apps, so I really recommend you install to C:\dx4winxxx.

My old faithful PC running XP is getting a bit long in the tooth, so I have
a new W7 machine on order.

This may well have been covered off on previous posts, I admit to not yet
having done a complete search, but what's the current thinking on pit falls
to be aware of when doing a new installation ?

(this, or similar, will be on the microHAM Writelog reflectors also, so
apologies if you read this more than once)

This is timely... I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine on order as well, and have
the same questions.

GL with the new computers.
I prefer XP for ham use but i use win 7 in my laptop which occasionaly use
for ham radio. Install dx4win outside programs directory. MMTTY also.
Generally ham programs is good to install outside programs directory. This
is probably because our programs usually update themselves. Writelog goes to
its default directory but is has solved many problems it had at the start.
Microham router works ok but you can not manage soundcard via router
anymore. Windows keeps this function for them.
Finally i think that win7 are good, maybe better than xp for general use but
not for ham radio... Ofcourse this is my opinion only

Re: [Dx4win] QRZ Error : Database not found

2011-12-01 Thread Jesse Wall
Hello Toshimi,

I have not tried the QRZ database installed locally, but you may want to try
installing it in another location besides Program Files x86). All of the
Program Files folders in Windows 7 have the browse option set in the security
tab to EVERYONE - DENY. This may be your problem. In Windows DENY access
overrides ALLOWED permissions. I have had this issue with a couple of programs.

Try installing to something like C:\QRZDB

Please let all of us know if this worked or not.

Good luck,
Jesse

Hi all. I am JE2UFF.

I checked archives this ref. Since it dose not solve, I would like to ask
you. A problem is QRZ Error : Is is Database not found. Now I used QRZ
Database install to HDD drive.
It can used stand alone, no problem. However, I can used it with dx4win
that problem happen.
I set up EXT Data tab for install drive. But not found. If choose CD-ROM
drive that no problem. I can used it with dx4win.

Why can not used HDD drive.

I tried two kind of types.
C:?Program Files(86)?QRZ Ham Radio?callbk
C:?Program Files(86)?QRZ Ham Radio?callbk?

Each path as same as QRZ Error.

Please advice for me.

My condition as follows

Windws7 64bit

Best regards
