[Dx4win] Windows XP and Parallel Port

2002-04-01 Thread Dean M. St. Hill
Thanks for that important correction.

Funnily enough, I can't seem to get it to work with writelog, but got it
"working" with DX4WIN very quickly. It probably isn't installed properly,
and DX4WIN using its own driver hi hi.

[Dx4win] Windows XP and Parallel Port

2002-04-01 Thread Dean M. St. Hill
There is a product called direct IO - which works very well.

The download is available at http://www.direct-io.com.

This is shareware, so you will need to follow the registration guidelines.

But this has worked for me and a few others, as I originally got this info
via one of the ham mailing lists.

Has anyone discovered how to get LPT1 to open with Windows XP?

[Dx4win] Kenwood QSX - was QSX Function of TS-850S

2002-03-27 Thread Dean M. St. Hill
Hi DX4WINERS,

I'm curious about the way QSX works with the various rigs out there.

>From what I know - the TS 850 and 450 - do not support computer control of
the -split- button.

I see someone reporting that computer control of split in the TS 440 was
implemented.

>From the messages logged, it also appears to work with the TS 950, 870 and
I'd hazzard a guess that the TS 2000 and TS 570 also support...

Any other experiences...

[Dx4win] QSX Function of TS-850S

2002-03-25 Thread Dean M. St. Hill
I have used several Kenwoods with varius logging programmes and this is how
it is implemented. The software puts the frequencies into the two VFO's and
then you have to manually place the rig into split with the appropriate
button depending on the specific transceiver.

There is simply no command available (at least up to the TS-850) for putting
the rig into split mode.

73, and have fun.

[Dx4win] N6TR Kenwood computer interface: Help needed!

2002-02-23 Thread Dean M. St. Hill
Hi Guys,

I just made an interface for rig control on a Kenwood TS850 / TS450, using
the N6TR methodology which uses a 5 volt zener and a resistor as the only
active components.

The interface works perfectly if I type in a frequency into CT, Writelog,
DX4Win... and quickly sets mode, frequency etc. on the rig, but when I move
the dial, the frequencies are not changed in any of the programmes.

Does anyone know if this interface is meant to be a two-way interface like
the W1GEE or if its just meant to do what its doing now.

My interpretation of the circuit is that it should read frequency from the
radio.

Any troubleshooting ideas, or should I not be wasting time and just buy the
W1GEE??
