[Dx4win] Special keys Ctrl-Enter

2010-12-03 Thread k2waltk
  Hey all,

I find myself constantly looking trough the help file and manual
to
find a key associated with a particular function. They are called

'special keys.' Is there a summary of all of these special keys
and
their functions? Or a function and it's associated assigned key,
  if there is one.

Second question: The return to last frequency function is defined
as
ctrl-Enter. I can't get this to work. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanx for your time in reading this blurb.

[Dx4win] Log corruption due to operator error.

2009-12-22 Thread k2waltk

Let me preface this by saying (or implying) that there is something
wrong with dx4win 803, there isn't.

I tried to upgrade to 8.03, following Jim, AD1C's upgrade tips, and
somehow I munged the log. Not only was the new log in 8.03
corrupted but the log in 8.02 was also. Fortunately, I have a backup on
another networked machine. I use the 'sync' feature of the SyncBack update
app. which allows me to maintain a 'synced' (or mirrored) copy of what is on
the master, and vice-versa. I turned off the update program before I
upgraded,
so I still have a working copy of Dx4Win 8.02. My sanity check after an
upgrade,
is to see if the the DXCC needed report produces the same list, before the
upgrade.
One thing that is common between both versions is the country file. Maybe
this
is where I went wrong? Could it be that I used the wrong copy of
dx4win.cty?
Sorry for taking up bandwidth describing my particular situation. Maybe it
could be apropos to other users. No doubt, this is a result of operator
error :-)
Any ideas?

Re: [Dx4win] Log Sync

2009-10-11 Thread k2waltk
Hi Ralph,

I use an inexpensive program, SyncBase by 2BbrightSparks, to sync
Dx4Win on 2 networked computers. The program runs in the background,
and monitors changes to any Dx4Win files I specify the program to keep
in sync. I don't sync the country files or the Dx4Win.INI files because I
ran
into hassles syncing those files. The details of which I won't go into
here.

In addition, the program does great backups. The program can do full,
incremental and differential backups. I do incremental backups on each
machine.

Here is the link to 2BrightSparks' home page:

http://www.2brightsparks.com/

Based on the response you're getting on the reflector, this is only one
possible
solution to keep your Dx4Win files in sync. Good luck with whatever
solution
you employ.

Subject: [Dx4win] Log Sync

I operate from several positions in my Multi-2 shack as well as from another
geographical site about 100 miles from the main QTH.

I would like to use one, single log file at all the positions and use
different groups to differentiate stations or positions. To keep an
updated, current log at each station/position, I've come up with the
following scheme:

I use the free program, Dropbox, to hold files that I want to share between
computers and keep files updated on each computer. I operate and log QSO's
to a Master log. I then copy this log to Dropbox. When I start operating
from another station or location, I copy the Master log from Dropbox to my
SAVE folder. I operate and start the process over again, copying the new
log to Dropbox and allow the program to make updated log files available on
each of the station computers --- for that matter any computer on the
planet.

Is this a safe, reasonable way of have one, current, updated log shared by
several positions and stations? Is there a better way?

Thoughts and ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

Ralph - K0IR

[Dx4win] Version 801 LoTW Import

2009-08-31 Thread k2waltk
Hey all,

I did my first import of LoTW data and noticed that
the Conf field isn't set to Y, but rather, is left blank.
What happened to the UplCnfm field that existed
in Ver 7? In Ver 7, both the Confm and Uplcnfm were
set to Y when LoTW data was imported. Why is the
Confm field in Ver 8 not set after a LoTW import?
Thanx for taking time to read this email.

RE: [Dx4win] Icom 756 Pro III Grabbing spots.

2008-12-11 Thread k2waltk
Hi Jim,

The CW pitch control changes the offset I use for copying CW. Let's assume
I am using 500 Hz for the CW pitch and the CW pitch control is set to 500
Hz.
Assuming I'm on CW and I grab an SSB spot by double clicking an SSB station
in the DX spots window which happens to be on 14,250.00 kHz. The VFO goes
to 14,244.50 kHz. If I double click the spot again, the VFO moves to
14,250.00 kHz, the correct frequency.

The same problem exists when going from SSB to CW. If I grab a spot on
14,005.00
the VFO moves to 14,005.50 again offset by the value of the tone of the CW
pitch control. Double clicking on this CW spot moves the VFO to the correct
frequency, i.e. 14,005.00.

RIT and XIT are turned off, Split is off and I'm deeply puzzled by this
behavior in version 7.06.

To prove to myself I wasn't totally nuts, I went back to Version 7.05 and
spot grabbing
works flawlessly. Evidently, a bug crept into Version 7.06 that wasn't
present in previous version.

As always, Jim, thank you for your continued support.

Hi Walt,

I don't understand this part:

If I am on CW and I grab an SSB spot, the frequency I'm taken to is
offset (low) from the actual frequency by the amount of the offset

Amount of what offset?

There are two Pro III .RIG files, try both and see if the problem
changes/goes away. The B flavor doesn't work with my rig.

I have a Pro III at home, I can try this tonight.

[Dx4win] Spots B4 my eyes

Oh yea, how do I edit the rig database. I can find no value of 100ms in the

except for the timeout of 5 seconds.

What are we the beta test site for the new versions of this product? Sounds
like Windows philosophy, if no one notices al is AOK.

I don't understand why ALL the rest of us have to change when you made
adjustments for just 2 radios. Maybe this is why Steve washed his hands of
this product.

Hi all,

Yes the CAT part of the program is changed , Paul and I spend much time in
solving the problem

For the OMNIVII rig and the K3 rig, but didn´t found or have any problems
with my IC7800.

If you are aware how to change a rigfile via the radio database (closed log
)

you can try to give a little delay (100ms) next to the command line for

set vfo A or

set vfo B or

set mode or

set mode B

make sure you make a backup of the rigfile first
!!!

In the omniVII file we had to put a 100ms delay in one cmdline because the
radio

couldn´t process the correct sended commands.
