[Dx4win] DX4WIN WinKey ??

2004-03-14 Thread on4kj
DX4win does'nt work with WinKey as far as I know.
It has not yet a routine that handles WinKey protocol, so they dont
understand each other.

   Hi,

I hope this is not the question Nr. 1000 for this topic, hi hi.

Is there a possibility to use WinKey in the actuall version of DX4WIN ?

I am using V5.03 and it seems that there is no way to use it.

   Hello Group

I'm sure this has been discussed before, so please accept my apologies

My question is: I've created a All Fields logbook report using all
fields
available. I've used that to create a CSV file by using the write to
file
option with the Report Editor function of DX4Win. I'd like to change a
couple of fields in this CSV file, then re-import the log entries back
into
DX4Win. Is this re-import possible, and how would I do it?

I was trying to do Print Labels In Sequence for the first time, but
after entering the 15 or so QSL's and selecting that option, I see that
it wanted to print 2184 cards! I did a search on Label flag = Y, and it
just listed the few QSO's I expected. Choosing the conventional Print
QSO Labels shows a count of 15 as it should. Anyone see this before?
Am I perhaps misinterpreting what the In Sequence option does?

[Dx4win] USB to Serial

Hello Tom,

Did you ever tried to use two different functions on the same port?
Have a USB to serial to control the FT1000mp, it works fine.
Tried to PTT via the same port, but no avail. ( Probably missing some
dedicated software to interface.both functions ) Using a USB to // for PTT
and thats OK too.

 Jimmy,

That's all you really need to do. Win XP will assign it a COM port
number.
You can look for it under the MY COMPUTER, PROPERTIES, HARDWARE,
 DEVICE MANAGER, PORTS.

I've played with a couple of them and they work fine for most
applications.

We all know that there are some people who just don't
reply to QSL cards. Over the years and through
conversation we learn who they are. Is there a way
to mark these callsigns in some way as Don't bother
to send a QSL? It would make it easy to run reports
for labels and make it so you don't see the callsign
when trying to determine valid qsos for awards.

I know you can just delete the qso but I would prefer
to keep track of all of my qsos.

 Pete

My (former) ISP did the same thing, except they never bothered to tell me
they were doing it, I lost two consulting contracts and as a result I
changed ISP's and am suing the former one. This is a growing trend among
ISP's because the Spam clogs up their server capacity (not because they
care about you). While I think Spam and Phone solicitation should be
outlawed it is not the place of the service providers to decide who you
get
email from. It amounts to the same thing as the phone company screening
 your calls

When connecting to a DX cluster via TELNET (with DX4WIN) and the activity
is
somewhat slow, I seem to get disconnected. During peak times such as

keep

to
keep the traffic moving. If windows isn't seeing any traffic from you,
(some

I have noticed that normally I lose my connection in about an hour.

My experiments indicate that the reason is that somehow Telnet attracts
a swarm of attempted connections from various unknown urls that overload
the ability of
 Telnet to keep itself alive.

Various methods of sending keep alive signals have made no difference.

I maintain two machines - one is Linux. If I establish a Telnet
connection under DX4Win
and set the Linux machine to monitor connections using tcpdump which is
included in most
Linux distributions, I can clearly see the attempted connections building
up - to as many as hundreds per second!

This is a classic DOS (Denial of Service) attack. Most people would be
unaware of the attack
unless they are running an analysis tool like tcpdump.

I've tried nearly a dozen different Telnet sites - the result has always
been the same.
That is why I'm looking for a good http site that does automatic
refreshes.

My connection is a 24 hour cablemodem (Time-Warner of Austin TX
RoadRunner)
and I think that kind of connection is attractive to the kind of people
doing this.
They can easily tell it's Time-Warner from the first few digits of the IP
address.

Many have complained about the difficulty of keeping their Telnet
connection up.
 Hope this information helps others.

Hello dx for winners,

Maybe i should go back to school, but not sure that
would be a sollution for my problem. Indeed communication protocols en
hardware change every day So far so good.
Who has some experience with USB to Seriel devices?
I would like to understand how USB manage the transfert to serial.
The goal, connect CAT of FT1000mp to my fast idiot (PC ).
Since all physical com ports are already in use. Is that small piece of
firmware present in the intelligent cable able to create a com port
independant of Windows, or should we free at least one irq so that USB can
create several virtuel comports?
Manufactor of the device just say there device installs a standard comport
with standard spec's. Since Windows support is virtuel in this case, its
possible some devices ( such as my CAT 1000mp) can not be managed by there
device.
How should i work, and what is a possible sollution ?

Thanks for any reaction.
