Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-09 Thread Larry Gauthier (K8UT)
Eric,

From my experiments:
comments:nn imports into Notes for this QSO
notes:nn imports into Notes for this callsign field

How did I test this? I create a monthly ADIF extract from DX4Win to track my
CQ Marathon score (using AD1C's nice marathon.exe utility). In that extract
the Notes for Callsign are represented with notes:nn. I opened a test log
and imported those records into DX4Win. The Names {which are in Notes for
Callsign} imported properly.

I have an ADIF field comment that has the operator's name and
callsign. It is imported into DX4Win as NOTES FOR THIS QSO.

In order to print that data on a label using the command, that data
needs to be in the NOTES FOR THIS CALLSIGN field.

DX4Win doesn't recognize the ADIF NOTES field... I just tried it. I
don't know of a way to change NOTES FOR THIS QSO to
NOTES FOR THIS CALLSIGN so I can use the parameter when printing the
 labels.

 Any help is appreciated.

Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-09 Thread Mel
Unfortunately the import is correct and I don't think you can do
anything about it.

Comments refer to a specific QSO.

Notes apply to the callsign. This is where the name normally goes.

This is how it works in all the logging programs I am familiar with.

You don't really need a name on a QSL card... and it gets meaningless if
you do a lot of contesting where the ops name is often unknown.

I've received two conflicting answers.

As to the comment: You don't really need a name on a QSL card... and it
gets meaningless if you do a lot of contesting where the ops name is
often unknown. I agree in the contest context. However, this was a
special event station and it would be a nice touch!

2009-04-09 Thread ON4AOI
Eric,

(Adif) Notes = Notes for this Call
(Adif) Comment = Notes for this QSO

So yes you are correct when you do change the fieldname your problem will be
corrected

With ADIFMaster you can change the columm name directly from notes to
comment
And delete the original comment colum took me 25 seconds with + 41000 qso
testlog

Oops - I mis-typed my previous posting. Should have said:

From my experiments:
comment:nn imports into Notes for this QSO
notes:nn imports into Notes for this callsign field
where nn is the length of the field.

Use Notepad (or any text editor - Notepad is notoriously slow at
search/replace on large files) to replace comment: with notes:.
