Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Question

2017-10-20 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK

Hi RIck,

This sounds like an issue with either the radio, cable, or driver. I
can't think of any reason why D4W itself would stop communicating with
the radio other than if perhaps you changed the address on either the
radio or within the software to not match what the other is expecting.
It appears that the default for the 7851 is 8E, you could check
File->Preferences->Radio and make sure the address is set to 8E there,
then note the baud rate there and go into the menu (on my 7600 it's in
the menu "Others" and would be next to CI-V Baud Rate and Address. Make
sure those match.

Other than checking the cables, the only other thing I can think of is
to test with some other software that controls your radio, if you've got
something.

(Sorry about the blank message to the list, my email client sometimes
decides to send rich text which gets stripped by the list. I think I
fixed it.)

Hi Davis,
  Thank you for your response.
  I am running version 8.05.
The radio is the Icom IC-7851.
I did try rebooting but that didn’t help.
I have no radio control. This just happened yesterday after years of
flawless operation.
The radio is connected to the computer via a CI-V cable to a USB
port on the PC.

Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,

Which version of D4W are you using? Can you still control the radio
from D4W? You didn't say what kind of radio you're using or how it's
connected, so it's a bit hard to troubleshoot. Can you provide some
additional information? And while it sounds like everyone always says
this ... did you try rebooting?
