Me bad; I did not have the RTS and other one marked. Once I did that, it works fine although it only shows the transmit frequency. During split, I would like to record both, transmit and receive, but I don't see a place that that would automatically be recorded to. This manual recording is for the birds. Re: [Dx4win] ft-2000 on dx4win
Hi, Steve. Every radio supported by DX4WIN is defined by a .rig file. When you select a radio in File-Preferences-Radio, you are actually telling DX4WIN what .rig file to use. The .rig files are kept in the Radios folder in your DX4WIN install directory. For example, my .rig files are kept in C:/DX4W805/Radios. In my Radios folder I see a .rig file for the FT-2000 (file name Yaesu FT2000.rig). You didn't say what version of DX4WIN you are using, but if it is an older version it is possible it didn't come originally with a .rig file for the FT-2000. If you are unable to find an entry for the FT-2000 when you go to File-Preferences-Radio and if Jim has a .rig file available for it, I would download that .rig file and move it into your DX4WIN Radios folder. You should then be able to select it in File-Preferences-Radio. If you are not running the latest version of DX4WIN (v8.05) I suggest that upgrading should be your first step as it will then come with all the latest .rig files. Let us know if these ideas don't help getting you online with your FT-2000. [Dx4win] FT-2000 with DX4WIN 7.02. Problem Solved!
Hello All: With the help of Jim AD1C, Paul VE7BZ, Lou N2TU and John ZL1ALZ, the problem was solved. FYI, here is what I did and the settings I used. To start, note that I have an FT-2000(PEP); it was a great experience downloading the PEP software and the radio worked splendidly without any problems after I did the download. If you have not done it, I recommend it. It does change the numbers on some of the menu items from what was in the original FT-2000 manual, but that is a minor problem. On the advice of Jim, AD1C, I went http://dx4win.ad1c.us/data.htm#Rig and downloaded the Rig File called FT-2000 V8i. I copied it into the DX4WIN radio folder with DX4WIN closed. Then I opened DX4WIN and went to Preferences and selected Radio. The settings that worked for me are: Type = yaesuFT2000-V8i. Address 00, with Default checked. Baudrate 9600, with Default unchecked. Com Port 7 (I use a USB port and hub from my laptop as it does not have a serial port) Poll rate 5000. Max tries 5. DTR Low (unchecked) RTS High (checked) I then had to check the Baud rate in the FT-2000 and set it to 9600 (Menu 028) and ensure that RTS was ON (Menu 30). Works a treat. Of course, then I had to go to N1MM Logger, which I use in contests, and set the baud rate to 9600. One thing always leads to another! Hi. My thanks to all who helped me. I hope that this info will be of use to others. 73, Jim, VE3IQ Jim Dean, VE3IQ 1134 Plante Drive Ottawa, ON, Canada, K1V 9E8 Tel: (613) 733-5585 Fax: (613) 733-7613 E-mail: jgd...@sympatico.ca __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Hi Jim, Before giving up, try 7.07. I'm pretty sure Paul made some fixes since the version you are using (which is several years old). Also check http://dx4win.ad1c.us/ look for the RIG/RADIO section, there might be a new .RIG file. 73 - Jim AD1C On 11/24/2009 7:55 PM, James G. [Dx4win] FT-2000 Driver for DX4WIN
Jim, I downloaded the FT-2000 fig file from your website about a week of so ago. In fact, you told me where to go to find it. This is what I have experienced using it with DX4WIN V7.01. 1. Attempting to spot a DX station with a split frequency, it never reads VFO B when you do a CTRL A. 2. With the radio in CW mode, and clicking on a RTTY spot, it does not change the mode. Clicking on a SSB spot, it changes the mode. 3. With the radio in the SSB mode. clicking on a RTTY spot, changes the frequency for both VFO A and B, if a split freq is there, but does NOT change the mode. If the spot is a CW spot, the VFO's are changed but the mode stays in SSB. 4. Radio in RTTY mode, and selecting a CW spot, radio mode stays in RTTY. However if selecting a SSB spot, it will set both VFO's and change the mode to SSB. Like there are two issues, One is reading VFO B frequency when spotting a station and the radio is in split mode. The other is that it is not reading a frequency table that tells it what mode it should be in for what range of tables. I know some logging programs let you set what range of frequencies are for SSB, RTTY or PSK and what for CW. Don't know if DX4WIN has such a table but I do know that everything worked FB with my 1000MP and does not with my FT-2000. Would appreciate hearing what you think and what we can do to get a better rig file fot the FT-2000. Thanks Reno Tonsi, WT8C
