Hi,

In the meantime, to check
if my interface (home-made G3VGR/OK2WY design 2-transistor interface) was not
the source of timeout, I have installed the DXLab software Commander v. 8.9.5
and selected IC735, 9600 kbps, 8N1, DTR high, RTS low and guess what:
everything
works superb! I can read and control VFO A/B frequencies, all modes and even
control the split operation, setting VFO A/B frequencies, inverting them etc….I
used polling interval of 350ms (200 was the default, but somebody on Internet
sites suggested not to use less than 350mS). There were NEVER any timeouts.
As a
conclusion, something seems to be conflicting between dx4win radio control
program and IC735.

Jim
Hargrave, W5IFP was trying to help me and was playing with demo version of
DX4WIN
8.05 (he is not currently using your program) , modifying the IC735 original
rig
file. He sent it to me and I replaced a file in my dx4win 8.04. In preferences,
I set DTR high, 9600bps, either 5000 or 350 ms @6
retries.
Now,
there is no more timeout. When I select radio/radio frequency control I can
read
and write frequencies and modes to IC735 without problem, and the changes are
reflected in the logging window.
But,
when I close frequency control window, nothing happens in the logging window
when I switch radio bands and modes. No timeouts, but looks like the program
doesn’t poll radio data automatically. As I have taken out the “transceiver”
jumper , radio doesn’t send this data automatically upon changes. If I activate
transceiver it may work, but then the help file says there is a risk of
collision with dx4win commands.

Would anybody knowledgeable with dx4win configs please check the attached rig
file to see where the lack of polling problem
might be. It seems the control now works at half and if the polling gets
activated, I could use my rig with dx4win. I asked Paul for help, but even if
he finds the issue, he doesn't have iC735 to check the end result.

I haven't subsribed to the reflector list to avoid my mailbox get filled with
many messages I may not be concerned with, but am checking the reflector site
from time-to-time. So, please respond also directly to my yahoo mail account!
Thanks and 73 to all,
Radi F6GNZ
