If they were ADIF, I can't see how there could be a problem. Cabrillo, well, I can see see that. I advise people to sign and upload only ADIF logs to LoTW, never Cabrillo logs. Cabrillo isn't a logging standard, it's a QSO reporting "standard" for contest sponsors. Re: [Dx4win] Just Joined - Update
I don't see any reason why an ADIF file that came out of N1MM or any other logging software should *not* be signed correctly with all the data in the TQSL station record. I have asked Bill K4CIA to follow up with the ARRL and let us know what he finds out. I know lots of people who upload their contest logs to LoTW, and I have never heard of this problem. -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Just Joined - Update
Bill, I operated the ARRL RTTY Roundup two weekends ago, using N1MM Logger as my contest log and importing the QSOs into my DX4Win v8 log. The state info transferred successfully. Here is the process I used: 1. Export log from N1MM Logger to an ADIF file. 2. Use AD1C's ADIF2DXQ log converter to convert the file to a DX4Win v8 file 3. Import the v8 .DXQ file into your DX4Win log 4. In DX4Win, export to LoTW, sign with TQSL, upload with browser. Worked fine here. -larry K8UT -Original Message- From: Bill McDowell Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:27 AM To: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Just Joined - Update I am one of the stations Rick contacted about missing State Info. Here is what I have found that may be causing the problem. Importing an ADIF file from N1MM into DX4WIN after a contest, and then uploading the resulting DX4WIN ADIF file to LoTW will produce the error. Only my call (K4CIA) and United States of America will show in the QSO detail. My TQSL file has all the correct information, but it does not transfer to a QSO from the imported N1MM files. QSOs from my normal DX4WIN QSOs show the proper Detail...state/zone, etc. No idea why but maybe some of you smarter guys can figure it out and post a fix. Further, my N1MM configuration has everything correct as well. Re: [Dx4win] Just Joined - Update
Without verifying the problem myself, I believe there are 2 issues. First, as has been explained here, TQSL must be set up properly. Second, the ADIF import from N1MM into DX4Win is not very complete. Jim, AD1C, has solved this problem with his program, ADIF2DXQ. See http://dx4win.ad1c.us/adif2dxq/index.html . Although it is an extra step in the N1MM to DX4Win import process, I have found it very valuable. It fills in almost all of the information that is normally missing. One other thought - when you download and import the LoTW file into DX4Win, a file named lotwreport.notfound is generated. You can look at this file from within DX4Win (use LoTW, Review QSOs not found). If there is mis-matched information between the LoTW file and your log, there will be an X in the far left column. You can review the issues and fix them, if you want. However, I'm not sure this will happen if the state is missing from either the LoTW file or the log. Please let us know if you find something else. 73, Bud N7CW On Tue, Jan 17, 2012 at 8:27 AM, Bill McDowell wrote: > I am one of the stations Rick contacted about missing State Info. > > Here is what I have found that may be causing the problem. > > Importing an ADIF file from N1MM into DX4WIN after a contest, and then > uploading the resulting DX4WIN ADIF file to LoTW will produce the error. > Only my call (K4CIA) and United States of America will show in the QSO > detail. The state information doesn't come from your logbook (either N1MM or DX4WIN). Start up TQSL on your system and chose "Edit Locations" from the "Station" menu. >From the "Edit Station Locations" menu, click on the location that you're using and then click "Edit..." to start up the location wizard. The first page has your Grid Square info and zones. Click "Next" once those are correct. The next page has your State and County. Those are probably empty in your case (or, they were empty when you signed your log initially). Once those are correct, click "Next" again. Click "Finish" to complete the wizard. Now you can re-export the QSOs in question, sign them using TQSL, and re-upload to LoTW. Those will now have a state defined for your station location. 73, -Rick -- Rick Murphy, CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Rick, My logging program has been handling the upload duties for me for so long that I have forgotten about TQSL signing the ADIF files for me :) Just for the fun of it I brought up TQSL using the icon on my Desktop and did a search for state. "Adding and Editing Station Locations" comes up where anyone can add things like Callsign, Zone(s), State, County, etc. The first sentence says "Adding (or editing) a station location is performed via a wizard. Guess there are several that haven't seen the wizard :) 73, Rick -N8XI From: Rick Murphy To: Rick Arzadon Sent: Monday, January 16, 2012 8:32 AM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Just Joined - Update On Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 10:51 PM, Rick Arzadon wrote: Maybe someone can properly advise DX4WIN users the proper way to use TQ8 files. > There is nothing whatsoever in any way, shape, or form that DX4WIN can do to fix this. You can place anything you want in your logging program and it won't matter since TQSL doesn't process it. TrustedQSL uses the station location that you set up in TQSLCert to decide what entity, state, and zone to use for that ADIF conversion; if you don't set that location up correctly, it won't be correct in LoTW. It's possible for a logging program to fix this by directly defining station locations in the TQSLcert database, but nobody is doing that as far as I know. They're all just handing the ADIF file to TQSL for signing. 73, -Rick -- Rick Murphy, CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Mel, No I do not have Outlook set up as my default mail program. That is why I had trouble trying to reply. Now that I have been getting mail to my yahoo acct I can reply! I will probably remove myself from the list soon as I don't even use DX4WIN. At the start of this thread I indicated that there are a number of DX4WIN users that don't include their state, county, zone(s) in their uploads to LoTW. I was correctly reminded that that info is placed in the TQSL files. Thanks. This was just a friendly reminder to users of DX4WIN to be mindful of adding those pieces of info. Especially now that the ARRL LoTW can be used for W.A.S. and VUCC and possibly other awards in the future.
