[Dx4win] DX4Win Label Printing Problem
I've been using DX4Win for ages, but have recently had problems printing QSL labels. I can't get it to print to my Brother QL-550 label printer. I can print a test page from the Win 10 "devices" set-up page, but when I print from DX4Win, I get an error message saying that labels in the printer don't match what the application is calling for. The weird part is that the size of the label cited in the error message is the same as what's specified in the software and what's in the machine. I corresponded with Paul about this issue a year or so ago with no success. Any help will be greatly appreciated! 73, Eric W3DQ __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] Label printing problem
I am using Avery type 5160 labels. DX4WIN 8.05. Printer is a HP photosmart 7900 series. 3 QSL's have been selected I hit Print QSL labels Print via manager is selected QSL method - tried ALL DIRECT Then, Edit - Then Preview It shows the heading and 3 QSO's on the label With lines and no commercial (the lines appear to extend past the right end of the label, but do not show that way on the printed label). Problem: only two QSO's are printed on the label And the third QSO is on a separate label. I used to do this and have another line with 73 etc de K3WC on the bottom and it all fit on the label PREFERENCES - tried Rep/Lab at 10 8 and no Messages. I have read all 5000 pages in the help file on QSL printing and cannot see/understand where my problem lies. Re: [Dx4win] Label printing problem
I believe the label height is too small for 3 qsos. Try to make it bigger or make smaller the used fonts. Double click the name of the fonts to change the size (and the fonts). Maybe my notes help you also... [Dx4win] Label Printing Question
I have four log files that each have 1-3 QSO's I want to print labels for. Is there any way to merge them together into one file to print? I'm not sure how one prints to file The other option is to run the same sheet of labels through the printer four times, but I don't remember how to set the offset to skip past the labels that have been removed/used after each pass through the printer. Re: [Dx4win] Label Printing Question
If you want to print all together you must make a new file and separate every call in groups. You must name every group with the call you want to print and after that in filepreferencesRep/Lab add a %%. Also when you go to print, you must have print group names box checked. Easier if you go with your second option. When you go to print (qso windowQSLsPrint QSL labels) a window opens. Notice the Missing Labels box in the middle. Here you are. Note that if have a sheet with more than one column with labels, dx4win prints by column. So if you have missed the first column (8 labels for example) and 3 labels in the second, you must write 11 in that box. 73 Kostas, SV1DPI Στις 14/3/2013 08:04, ο/η Eric Rosenberg έγραψε: I have four log files that each have 1-3 QSO's I want to print labels for. Re: [Dx4win] DX4win Label printing
Doyle (and DX4WIN list), Yes, those are the labels I use. You can even specify where the first label is (skip blanks) if you have used some and there are more on the sheet. Last purchase of cards (I had them printed/cut at office store) I left 3 of 4 on each sheet with a blank space instead of an information box. I can stick the label there and nothing to show through. I actually set up the laser printer to print directly on the cards which I can do now instead of labels. Re: [Dx4win] Label Printing Not Aligned
When you go to print (QLSsprint qsl labels then in the print qsls window, then print) then setup) finally you are in Report Setup window. Then if you go setup you can choose (among other things) Printer's paper. When you make experiments with a sheet, printer knows you have a sheet. If you want to have the same results with avery labels, go there and tell printer that you have a sheet agn even you really have labels. The other way is to make your experiments with labels. [Dx4win] Label printing format for standard QSL (4x6) card
Is there a format for printing directly on a QSL card. My cards have standard boxes across the middle of the card. I've tried editing one of the custom reports to print a label for the 4 x 6 card but it still printing the basic 1 label in the middle of the card. I'm sure there must be a format for this as it is a pretty standard card layout, but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks for any info. Forward : I do not print labels with DX4WIN. I have received several QSL card with printed labels that NO LONGER will stick to their appropriate QSL card. I have secured them with (Scotch brand tape). Those labels that have have come loose from the QSL do indicate the TO: and FROM: call-signs. I am glad both callsigns are listed on the printed labels that clearly defines the To: , From: on the labels. Please ensure your labels format(s) provide the same TO/FROM info. Re: [Dx4win] Label Printing
Hi Alan, Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I missed it when it first came in and a bunch of others caused it to scroll way down to another page. Well, I tried putting various numbers into the Missing Labels box with various results. If I put 0 in there, it prints a label and scrolls to the bottom 11 down. If I put 1 in there, it scrolls down 1, prints, then scrolls to the bottom of the 11 page. If I put 11 in there, it scrolls down 11, prints, then scrolls another 11. I don't need/want it to scroll anywhere, period. I merely want a choice to print a label and line feed to where the next label would start, then STOP. Perhaps, if the program wouldn't issue a Form Feed after printing a single label and the Missing Labels was set to 0, it would work. (???) I've ruined so many labels already playing around with different options. And, if I send it to my tractor feed line printer I get the same results and waste lots of sheets of paper. (Darn Form Feed!) Until I get some kind of actual fix, I'm just going to go back to my old DOS computer and DXBase 4.5 and print the one or two labels or addresses I need. Thanks for the suggestions. If I give up on ever using the tractor feed label printer and use my inkjet printer, I'll try your suggestions there. 73 MX, Bob K8BL P.S. I used your suggestions with my inkjet printer and was able to put labels anywhere I wanted on plain paper by adjusting measurements with the Custom 1 formatter option. :O) --- On Fri, 12/17/10, ALAN ZACK k7...@cox.net wrote: From: ALAN ZACK k7...@cox.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Label Printing To: 'R.T.Liddy' k...@ameritech.net Cc: 'DX4WIN Reflector' dx4win@mailman.qth.net Date: Friday, December 17, 2010, 9:37 PM I can understand you wanting to use a continuous roll of labels for only a couple of labels, BUT, DX4WIN does allow the use of sheets of labels for just a few labels. In the label print window there is a box MISSING LABELS. So let's say you have a sheet of labels that you have already printed 5 labels from. So you put 5 in the missing labels box and it will start with the 6th label which should be the first blank label on your partly used page. I use type 8160 labels, 2 5/8 inch long and 1 inch high. They fit FB on my QSL cards. My only problem is the latest version 8.04 does not remember my preferred settings as previous versions did. It always goes to the default of PRINT QSL MANAGER LABEL, PRINT VIA MANAGER, PRINT METHOD LABEL being selected and PRINT GROUP NAME not being selected. I always change it to PRINT METHOD LABEL being deselected and PRINT GROUP NAMES being selected but it won't remember these settings. I've run into a couple problems that I can't find discussed in the Help files. I'll deal with them one at a time so as not to get too confusing. Labels: I don't often print more than a few labels. Many times it's just one to respond to an incoming QSL. I can see how to do sheets of labels on my inkjet printer but can't imagine doing that many (a sheetfull). I have an old tractor feed printer where I printed my labels from my previous logging program. It's merely one across. The labels are 3 1/2 in. X 15/16 in. They are also known as Avery 4013 style. I've tried numerous setups in the Label Editor and can get a label to print OK. BUT, after it prints the label it appears a Form Feed is sent to the printer because it feeds out a whole page length of labels. That's a real waste of a lot of labels since rolling them back peels them off and makes a mess. I tried Custom5 and set the Page Width to 3 1/2 and the Page Height to 1.0, but it still feeds out like an 11 sheet. I set them to Zero and I still get a form feed to 11. There is a choice for Label Name 4013, but it still feeds out like an 11 Form Feed. Any suggestions? [Dx4win] Label Printing/Callsigns
Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to add an extra line when printing QSL labels? Using 'File- Preferences-Set Parameters-Labels Greetings' you get two. I have been using L7160 labels for a time but there is a lot of wasted space on them which could be put to good use with the addition of an extra 'optional' line! However, if ''Uses lines' is selected the date 'box' line prints the last numer in that filed no matter what font size is selected!!! Good luck. 73's Jos on4kj - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Saturday, October 26, 2002 1:34 PM Subject: [Dx4win] Label Printing Problem I just installed DX4WIN on a new computer (still using same printer... Old HP LaserJet II+). I'm noticing a problem I didn't have on the previous setup. The last label on each column of labels does not print out the PSE QSL 73, WI5A line. Doesn't matter if there's one QSO on the label or several. I'm using the defaults for Avery 5351 labels. Any ideas? [Dx4win] Label printing problem
David, I have seen this bug with a HP1100 printer; downloading the latest driver for your printer may solve the problem. If you use the latest version already, you can try to define a label format using a custom page size of 8.5 x 11 (It was the letter size that caused the problem) Paul At 06:30 AM 5/6/02 -0500, David M. I'm an experienced DX4WIN and am totally frustrated that I cannot figure this one out! The problem is in the QSL label printing routine. I use Avery 5161 labels - two labels across each sheet, 10 down each page. Going to Labels/Print QSL Labels/Edit, I have 5161 selected. But when I select Preview, what I see on the Preview Editor is 1.5 labels across, with the page only 5 1/2 inches - rather than 8 1/2 inches - wide. That results in only 1 1/2 labels across the sheet, rather than two.It prints that way, as well. In the label editor, the paper specified is Letter, which is 8 1/2 x 11 inches, although, of course, it's grayed out a result of selecting 5161. Any ideas? Many thanks.
