[Dx4win] paper log entry and conversion .XLS to .ADIF format
Is there a program that will allow me to input my friends paper logs into, say a pre set-up Excel 2010 and then convert it to ADIF for DX4WIN importing. I'm trying to convince him to get into this century. :) Thanks George W2YJ __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

There's better solutions than Excel - ideally you want something that understands the data and helps with the input (verifying that callsigns are valid, etc.) Also, having something that auto-fills is good. If you log one QSO on 20m CW, it's helpful in a lot of cases if the software just assumes that for the next QSO. Fast Log Entry - http://www.df3cb.com/fle/ - is often mentioned as one way to quickly enter logs. If you're going to use Excel, have a look at Jim's site - http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/filter.html - for info on how to import data from a spreadsheet. 73, -Rick __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

George, why not just have him key them into DX4WIN directly? Same number of keystrokes, one step? Re: [Dx4win] paper log entry and conversion .XLS to .ADIF format
Basic Log as found on the ARRL web site is actually a spreadsheet but is set up to capture QSO data. Works well if you need to do that kind of thing. Gives you an ADIF file if you want. Instructions: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/LoTW%2520Resources/Instructions%2520for%2520BasicLog%2520(2).pdf Spreadsheet http://www.arrl.org/files/file/LoTW%2520Resources/BasicLog500.xls Actually works pretty well if you have to enter paper logs David K0LUM On Mar 17, 2013, at 12:05 PM, Rick Murphy wrote: On Sun, Mar 17, 2013 at 12:12 PM, George goofy...@rochester.rr.com wrote: Is there a program that will allow me to input my friends paper logs into, say a pre set-up Excel 2010 and then convert it to ADIF for DX4WIN importing.
