[Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's

2010-05-02 Thread Art - W6KY
When importing the 7 Area QSO Party ADIF log
the import aborts because of duplicate QSO's.
But, I worked several stations on the county lines.
Example:
K7ZX was ORLAN and ORLNN
Logged as 2 QSO's.
I have about 6 stations with 2 QSO's each on the
same band. County Lines...
What to do...

Could change the calls in the ADIF file and then change
em back... Too much chance for errors...

Thanks, Art W6KY

Re: [Dx4win] Changing band/mode Real-Time in QSO Windows

2010-05-02 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi Mel

To understand the problem, try the following :

1) Stop Radio
2) In QSO Window Press F9
3) Enter a callsign e.g. VE2DC (with band/mode = 160CW)
4) Now, in QSO Windows, change band/mode to 10SSB

The black Box in Country window should now jump to 10CW But the Country
Windows is no refreshed !
I have been playing around with the Entry fields in the QSO windows ... and
some generates an event that refreshes the Country window, others do not.
e.g changing the date, call, prefix generates an update event, but the Mode
and Band selections do not (as they should). This worked like a charm in
7v05 and looks like it a bug introduced in 8v03?

I'm not sure what you are tying to do Flam. DX4Win works fine here. Why
would you change band/mode in the QSO window? Do you not have a radio
connected? If you do edit a QSO, the DXCC information will be shown once
you commit the change. Ver 7 worked the same way. How can you expect to
check the DXCC status without entering a callsign

 dx4win.list.2...@dxmail.dk wrote:
 Hi

It Seems to be an error, here's what i found in the user guide:

The summary windows are always up-to-date. When adding, updating or
deleting QSOs, there is no need to refresh the display. The current
band/mode obtained from the QSO Window is indicated by a box around the
 status.

 Hi

Just upgraded to 8v03 and got everyting to work ok, however ...

when changing band or mode in the QSO window, the change is not marked
correctly in the Country Window (DXCC) ... If you type something in
 the
Call field the black square suddenly jumps to the correct place in the
matrix. This is very confusing when chasing DX, where the band/mode
 change
is stuck on a wrong band/mode...

Is there any way to change this behaviour ? The 7v05 did not have this
 problem...

Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's

2010-05-02 Thread Mel
I've run into the same issue with grids on VHF with an older version...
I just changed the times so they are a couple of minutes apart.

I guess Paul hasn't fixed this yet. Dupes should also check County/Grid,

Sounds like it might be fairly easy to fix... unless time is the primary
key of his in-memory file. Maybe Paul could sneak this in ver 8.04.

Hi Art,

How did you log the call and QTH? What version of DX4WIN are you using?

If the QSOs are the same *except* for the County, I believe that
DX4WIN 8.0x will NOT think they are duplicates.

Have you tried running this program on your log to convert the contest
abbreviations to real ADIF county names?

  http://software.ad1c.us/ADIF_County/

In fact, this program will create two QSOs out of the county line, and
will add 1 second to the second QSO.

Hi Jim,

Logged as 2 QSO's. But with different reports representing the county's.
K7ZX sitting on the county line...

Using 8.01.. Did the County conversion program. Same results.

Never had this happen before because in a contest when I am in a run
mode I always work dupes. Contest software counts them as zero so
it doesn't matter. Never dupe in SP. N1MM software.

This contest I only worked abt 100 Q's so I can easily remove the 6
or 8 county line dupes, but in a major contest... I really don't see the
need to 'abort' an import due to dupes. Maybe a yes or no to proceed
but not abort...

Hi Jim,

Grid boundaries are allowed, but the rules are a bit excessive (my opinion).
See

I did this a couple times last summer and actually posted little movies of
my set up and zooming in to the GPS showing the XX.000 display. Of course,
by the time you set up, the GPS location is different, but that's just me
whining. Grid boundaries are not allowed in the ARRL VHF contest - you can
only exchange 1 grid.

Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's

2010-05-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
OK, I was thinking of a VHF contest (which is really the only time log
import would become an issue), and did find this rule, which would
seem to prohibit grid-line operation in all ARRL VHF contests (50 MHz
and above):

  http://www.arrl.org/general-rules-for-arrl-contests-on-bands-above-50-mhz

1.11.A station located precisely on a dividing line between grid
squares must select only one as the location for exchange purposes. A
different grid-square multiplier cannot be given without moving the
complete station (including antennas) at least 100 meters.

So I stand by my claim that although Paul could make the change (check
VUCC grid when importing a possible duplicate QSO), it probably isn't
necessary.

Re: [Dx4win] Version 8.04

2010-05-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
New features and bug fixes in 8.04

Awards

· Not all previous submissions were included when doing a new submission

COM ports

· Increased the range of COM port numbers from 8 to 32

CW keyboard

· Not installing the LPT driver no longer hangs the CW signal

· When adding in real-time with Special Keys for CW enabled, the Esc
will only empty the CW buffer and no longer stops adding QSOs. A new
menu option was added to do this.

Databases

· Jim, AD1C, has updated a number of databases like the country
database, awards database etc; for the details see
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/data.htm

Import/Export

· Added frequency in MHz

Packet

· Saving Putout Window columns ignored last column

· New award band color in spotting window only used when the band has
its own award

QSL Labels

· Better test to go to new label if Pse/Tnx did not change or is not present

· We could clear too many labels when removing duplicate QSLs

PSK31

· An updated pskcore dll no longer requires the installation of the C
runtime library (thanks Dave, AA6YQ)

QSOs

· Allow special characters and characters with accents for name and
QTH in multiple QSO operations

· Allow a dash ('-') when searching in a list of values (pressing F1
in prefix field, award value etc.)

· Multiple QSO operations change QSL method now ignores confirmation /
label status

· Fixed problem with band / mode box in summary windows not always
following the QSO Window settings

Radios

· Added support for a transverter (single band or all bands)

Reports

· Double click in listing report could set incorrect filter settings

[Dx4win] Did you operate the 7-Land/Indiana/New England QSO parties?

2010-05-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I've been asked to add support for the three above-mentioned QSO
parties to the ADIF to DXQ program. My plan is to process all three
at the same time. If someone used WriteLog or another contest logging
program (besides N1MM) to log this contest, please get in touch with
me. I might need your ADIF log to debug the conversion.

I might add in MARAC also, but I need to see how complicated this
special case is going to be. If you need this, let me know.

When I import an ADIF file from N1MM after a contes, I always get the

Sometimes I work without the computor connected to the rig. N1MM always keep
track of the frequency and needs to have one to work. The frequency will be
imported together wit the rest of the information. Is it possible to import
QSOs from N1MM and omitt the frequency in the import?

It sounds like N1MM exports both the FREQ and FREQ_RX fields, even when
the QSO is simplex (i.e. the latter is not needed).

You would have to go into the ADIF file, find all the FREQ_RX fields
(both name and value) and completely delete them. May not be so easy.

I'll see if I can add this to ADIF to DXQ before the next release.
Please send me your .ADIF file to test with.

You would have to go into the ADIF file, find all the FREQ_RX fields

I use to change the unwanted fields, adding a _ before them (FREQ_RX...
becomes _FREQ_RX...), so they are not recognized and imported by DX4WIN.
If necessary, I can later restore the correct name.
