[Dx4win] Running Dx4win in Vista

2009-04-29 Thread KD3TB
I plan on upgrading my radio shack computer very soon. Since it's almost
impossible to get a computer running XP today, does Dx4Win run in Vista?

Thanks and regards, Irwin

[Dx4win] Install error on Vista

2009-05-13 Thread KD3TB
I installed Dx4win version 7.07.02 on my new Vista Machine (32 bit Vista).
I installed Dx4win in the root (C:) directory. I get the following error
when running Dx4win:

Driver file: C:\windows\system32\drivers\vichwll.sys not found, trying to
install the driver. When I click okay - Dx4win runs and I can control my
radio, K3, get spots, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to run as administrator, at least the first time, so DX4WIN
can copy the driver.

Please see this:

[Dx4win] Help with Filters

2010-07-13 Thread KD3TB
I am trying to set up a date filter that lets me highlight a selection QSO's
by a Date Range and then set the LOTW flag for uploading. When I try using

select date filter. What am I doing wrong?

Dx4win version is 8.04.

Re: [Dx4win] MixW Logs to D4W

2010-08-03 Thread KD3TB
I have been using both Dx4win and MixW for years. I use Dx4win as my master
logging database for a number of reasons; including searching (filters),
QSL'ing (including LOTW), award tracking and the ability to keep track of
QSL Managers. With a number Dx'editions, contest admissions and multiple
calls signs from having living outside of the US, Dx4win is an excellent
logging program for me. But, I am preaching to the choir on this reflector.
I do not expect Dx4win to be an all encompassing program. I use MixW for
PSK31, RTTY and CW contacts. It has an excellent algorithm for CW copy for
those of us you need a crutch when it comes to CW. Even with that, MixW and
Dx4win are not contesting programs and I use other programs when I contest.

Given that, I find it very easy to copy my database and contact between the
two programs using the *adif format. When copying from MixW, I highlight the
contacts in MixW (search in Log file, whole log) and then save them to an
*adif format. In Dx4win I then import the *adif file into a temporary
logging file I call Import Log File ( I overwrite this file when I am done
so I do not import duplicate records). Once I have checked the imported
file, I merge it with my appropriate log file. When moving files from Dx4win
to MixW, I use a reverse process.

It's easy and quick. The whole process probably takes me no more than a few
minutes to complete.

Only caveat, and it is a serious one... DX4Win is not a very suitable
program for digital operators because it has a hard-coded, inevitably
out of date, mode selection making it impossible to log contacts
correctly if you use a mode that St. Paul hasn't blessed ;-)

[Dx4win] Icom 706 MKIIG

2011-05-05 Thread KD3TB
I am trying to set up a second radio - Icom 706 MKIIG - and having
difficulty getting Dx4Win to recognize the radio. I know the com port is
working as the radio is recognized with other software. Cat is set to 58H
with a baud rate of 19100. I am using Dx4Win version 8.05. I have already
tried a number of settings with no luck.

Any suggestions.

[Dx4win] LOTW Not Found in Log

I recently downloaded my latest LOTW Log Confirmation and imported into

1. Does this mean they are confirmed in LOTW, but not in my Dx4win

2. If so, Can I run an Import that brings them into Dx4win or do I
have to manually enter them?

[Dx4win] Program to write a comment in the Adif Comment Fields

When I import logs from a contest or POA in an adif format, I like to add
a comment that notes the event. I have a new computer and misplaced an
older program that allowed you to do this on a file versus adding them

I am hoping someone know were I can locate this file again?
