[ECOLOG-L] Post Doctoral Research Assistant - Illinois Natural History Survey: Environmental DNA
A Postdoctoral Research Associate is sought to work on a Department of Defense-sponsored suite of projects centered on the efficacy of environmental DNA to inform management of threatened, endangered, invasive, or pest species on military installations. The successful candidate will have expertise in PCR, qPCR, metabarcoding, next generation sequencing, and bioinformatics. Research will focus on environmental DNA in lentic, lotic, and terrestrial systems and leveraging both single species and metabarcoding assays. The successful applicant will be expected to design primers and probes, generate data via both qPCR and next generation sequencing, analyze and interpret the data, and develop manuscripts and technical reports. We expect strong written and oral communication skills, experience with bioinformatics pipelines for metabarcoding data, and the ability to work well in a team environment. The position is 100% research time, and will be a 12-month appointment (with potential for extension). Start date is negotiable, but could be as early as 1 October 2018. To apply, please submit via email and as a single PDF document a current Curriculum Vitae, statement of research interests, and the names and contact information of three references to Mark Davis (davi...@illinois.edu 217.300.0980).
