[ECOLOG-L] Ecology panelists needed for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
The US National Science Foundation is looking for ecologists who are willing to serve as panelists for the 2017 Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students pursuing research-based masters and doctoral degrees in science or engineering at accredited US institutions (for GRFP details see the new solicitation, NSF 16-588). NSF seeks GRFP panels composed of researchers and educators from a wide range of institutions and geographic locations. All reviews and panels will be conducted online and do not require any travel. Panelists must attend an orientation webinar in November 2016, review about 30 fellowship applications, and participate in virtual panels in January 2017. If you would like to be considered as a 2017 GRFP panelist, please visit https://panelists.nsfgrfp.org to register in the panelist system. Registering in the panelist system does not commit you to serving as a GRFP panelist. Based on anticipated needs, NSF will send formal invitations to panelists in late September-October. If you have questions contact Mike Vanni, mva...@nsf.gov.
[ECOLOG-L] Webinar on NSF Biology Postdocs
NSF's Division of Biological Infrastructure (DBI) will present a webinar on Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology on October 13, 2015 at 3 pm eastern time. The webinar is targeted to potential applicants for the upcoming deadline on November 3, 2015, but also will be informative for potential sponsors and individuals interested in applying in future years. The webinar will also be archived, so the information will remain available to potential applicants and sponsors who cannot attend the live session. The Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) awards Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology to recent recipients of the doctoral degree for research and training in selected areas supported by BIO and with special goals for human resource development in biology. The fellowships encourage independence at an early stage of the research career to permit Fellows to pursue their research and training goals in the most appropriate research locations. For this competition, BIO postdocs are available in three areas: (1) Broadening Participation of Groups Under-represented in Biology, (2) Research Using Biological Collections, and (3) National Plant Genome Initiative (NPGI) Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. For more information, and to register for the webinar, follow this link: http://www.tvworldwide.com/events/nsf/151013/
