Re: [Efw-user] DNAT not working

2015-06-16 Thread Jason

This is a mostly dead group now...
I just retired (2) Open Endian boxes in place for pfSense Hardware.

But to try to get your situation fixed.

You need to NAT the incoming interface and set the rule (and port) to
map over to the correct values to talk to your server. If you have
antivirus or any other options that might interfere with normal mail ops
on the EFW - disable those, once you have smtp on 26, just do a
portmapping from 25 to 26... (in all honesty, if you can run SSL - best
way) - and I believe you can make that transparent though the
firewall/proxy, depending on how you have it setup.

Let me know what the IP schemes are on each and... and what the EFW(s)
are config'd as far as IP and routes...

Thanks
Jason

Hello - I'm trying to receive email on a non-standard port. I use a
3rd-party MX record service which sends to my internal domain on TCP
port 26. I have a DNAT rule configured to listen for incoming
connections on TCP 26 and ALLOW/forward the connection to my internal
server running SMTP on port 26 instead of 25.

This works seamlessly when I point the router to send port 26 traffic
to a Microsoft ISA 2004 server that I'm trying to retire, but fails
miserably with the EFW. No mail at all comes in if I switch the NAT
to point to the RED interface of the EFW, but it does work if I point
it to the equivalent "RED" interface of the MS ISA server.

I've tried disabling the IDS, same result, no mail gets in.

The EFW is behind my ISP router, so the RED interface is using a
private IP in the 192.168.10.x range. The Green interface is on my
internal network, and my mail server is using a 172.16.x.x IP address.

Please help!

Thanks,

Re: [Efw-user] Block Team Viewer

2011-04-27 Thread Jason Oglesby
You should be able to block via port, or hostname.
Start the application and do a netstat and see what ports its
listening on... if you are in windows, use TCPView (free from
microsoft) and it will show you the listening ports, the hosts its
talking to (on the team viewer side) and you should be able to
block/blacklist from the info gathered in TCPView.

Let me know if you don't get it fixed!

Wharfratjoe...

I am trying to get the Untangle (not appliance) version working on one of my
spare XP machines and then put inline with my Endian box. We also have an
Untangle Appliance in the datacenter. I will see if I can get a VPN
connection up between the two.

Let me know if you've had any successes/failures in your previous attempts.
My boss knows someone at Untangle, as when we've had problems - I make one
phone call and its resolved. Nice guys too.

Thanks,

Re: [Efw-user] Multiple green subnetworks?

2007-11-18 Thread Jason Oglesby
Kenneth,

VLAN's would be good, but...Don't hold me to this one, but I've done
something similar in my "lab" in the house.

I have a cable modem, and you cannot get more than 1 public IP unless you
pay a stupid amount to the cable company for multiple static IP's.

My solution:

Cable Modem -> EFW (red), on the Green Side, hookup a switch... and DHCP
(from efw)...
Then get the 4 Linksys Routers with NAT... plug each WAN port into the
switch for the Green Interface.
Configure each of the 4 linksys' routers with differing subnets on the LAN
side... b/c without a specific route, IP's don't cross subnets.

Once attached to one of the linksys (on the LAN side) - you should not be
able to ping anything on the LAN side of linksys router 2, 3 or 4.

Make sense?

Heres how I have mine:
Core Net: 192.168.1.x, 255.255.255.0
Secured Wireless is on the same IP/Subnet (since this one is my wifi)
Secondary Network: 10.1.1.1/255.255.255.0 (br1)
Secondary WiFi: 10.2.1.x/255.255.0.0 (br3)

Contact me directly if you have more questions on how I have mine
configured...

Just thought I'd throw that one out there... food for thought.

Jason

I have tried (and read) and still cannot get anything to make it
work right... at least to me, at this point.
I've begun looking for a cheap Linksys Router with a USB Interface -
as in this area, you can use the other interface and obtain a usable/
public (and separate from the eth interface) ip address.

Anyways - maby someone has tried this already - if so (or if it
won't work) - let me know.

Thanks in advance!

[Efw-user] EFW Release 2 on ESX 2.5

2006-09-01 Thread Jason Walker
I have installed EFW on Release 2 on ESX server and it appears that I'm
having a kernel timing issue. I've run into this with ESX before, and the
solution was to patch the kernel, among other things. The easiest way to see
this problem manifest is with pings. From the outside world, ping the
firewall. Pings will drop at random times. If you ping from the EFW console,
you will see no drops, but the time between ping responses will be slower
than on a bare metal machine. Note that the response times will all look
fine and will not reflect any slowness, it's just in the printing of the
results of each ping request that you'll notice this.

Has anyone else had this issue or have any insight?

[Efw-user] VMWare appliance in ESX

2006-09-01 Thread Jason Walker
I tried to install the EFW VMWare appliance in ESX v2.5 and was not able to
get the disk recognized. Has anyone gotten this working?
