[Ekiga-devel-list] Git version - remarks (not user friendly interface)
Hello, I compiled last git version of Ekiga and found some things on GUI :-( : call_window option disappeared from View menu. It is then not possible to test camera, or to have a call window for multiple call the field to call a unreferenced user is then on the Dialpad tab, but it is not possible to type a number. Only alpha is allowed. I didn't find this evolution convenient. Dear everyone Please submit your opinion (yes no) about this issue. Your opinion IS important. Dear Admins Please put advertisements related to SIP technology (SIP telephones or SIP server providers (e.g. Diamondcard) etc.) on Ekiga.org ...with contracts, of course, not just ads for fun :-P Please use YOUR OWN advertisement platform/server (controlled exclusively by you) like OpenX. http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpadsnew/ http://www.openx.com/ OpenX (phpAdsNew) is an open-source ad server, with an integrated banner management interface and tracking system for gathering statistics. With OpenX you can easily rotate paid banners and your own in-house advertisements. I believe that advertisements, of trusted good (e.g. SIP telephones, or businesses that can install SIP to land line gateways) and service providers (e.g. SIP to land line) will increase the popularity of the SIP technology and the use Ekiga. The more various uses we will be reading about, the more SIP users are going to be. Important note: In order to prevent future embarrassment and joylessness with pay services (e.g. someone was paying for Diamondcard and Ekiga did not always operated well), please suggest other SIP clients (one or two) in case Ekiga is not working well, or, as you do here in the mailing lists, asking from the users to test Ekiga with a free ekiga.net account and only after use pay services. SIP Gateways: I am very impressed with the SIP gateways like the toll free which you provide to us and I think that many people, if only they knew, are interested in establishing such gateways for their own telephone lines, with SIP hardware phone and exchange permissions with friends abroad in order to reduce their phone bills. THIS you can do with SIP, which Ekiga supports, NOT with Skype. People need to understand that Microsoft had bought the number of the users that are bound to the shackles of Skype, not the technology which seem to be heading to open source one like SIP and XMPP, and yet still limited to the domains and servers of Skype. Nice well-behaved targeted banner ads keep me informed of services available for the technology I am reading about. It is ok to pop-up and even use sound when you click on an ad. Another possibility to consider: review forums for SIP related services.
