In both traces the problem is:

Could you start ekiga with -d 4 and give me the output when it crashes?

I notice in this log that you try to call, is that right? Please explain a bit
what you were doing when attaching a log.

In the log there is an error shown:
SIP/2.0 503 Service Unavailable

Is there a SIP client (e.g. ekiga) running on the machine you call?
Please provide more information.

This seems to be a yet another issue related to libnotify. Does not a

Anyway, open the call window before the call, and you will be able to answer
the call using the icons in the call window. Does this workaround work?

Re: [Ekiga-list] Newbie questions

2013-03-09 Thread Eugen Dedu
I understand that it is annoying, but adding a checkbox means adding it
to configuration files too, allow users to uncheck it, take into account
users who forgot this, or worse users who change network (work-home)
and where parameters are different etc.

So we need to think a bit about that before implementing anything.

Re: the error message in 1.

Since it may be difficult (or impossible?) for Ekiga to detect and/or
configure ports on remote firewalls, perhaps a simpler (or at least
quicker/temporary) solution would be to include an option checkbox in
the error notice saying: check box not to be reminded of this next time
Ekiga starts.

Hi, just installed Ekiga and have the following questions:

I have since manually opened all the required ports and verified that
they are open with PFPortChecker but the same error message still pops

everything working properly and if so how do I prevent this message from
appearing?

Check whether you can be called too. See
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Understanding_NAT/firewall_issues_with_SIP_clients_%28eg_ekiga%29
for some information.

2. To confirm that I am getting out there and to see how things work, I
wanted to call someone but every person I tried in the address book was
unavailable. Would someone be so kind as to make themselves available
for a short chat (I can make myself available during most of the day and
am in GMT - 8 )?

3. Audio: During the tests there was a lot of echo even after I enabled
echo cancellation in preferences. What can I do to improve the sound?

Echo cancellation is not high quality. Buy a headset.

4. Video: Is there a way to make the video conference window occupy the
whole screen (my monitor is set to 1024x768)?

Use fullscreen in View menu during conversation.

In preferences settings I can choose either NVIDIA CK804 (PTLIB/ALSA) or

working.

The two entries correspond to the two périphériques (0 and 1) below. In

[Ekiga-list] How to send audio from a file ?

2013-03-09 Thread geo cherchetout

Hello,

Now, I should like to have the other speaker hearing an .wav, .ogg or .mp3
file that I have in my home. (Preferably whithout using any wire and
soundcard input/output jacks.)
Perhaps there is a way to make a virtual audio device that Ekiga could work
