I'm not seeing that. I went to the order page, checked a few items, clicked add to cart. The system then asked my zip code and shipping method. The next screen had my shopping cart with the items and the shipping and the grand total which seems to be what you are looking for unless I am misunderstanding. Only upon clicking Check out now is the next step reached, which still requires several more screens of selecting payment type and entering the credit card, etc etc. As a note to the Elecraft folks, it's a very nice cart system. Wayne : Why not think big and add one more criteria : The base of the adaptor must be threaded to allow it to be attached to the base of KTS1 Wide range tilt stand for the K1. This should hopefully be pretty easy to do. That way one adaptor allows the KXPD1 to be used on both K1 and K2 Rigs. MikeH wrote: Hello Group, The build for K2 #4661 continues... I am doing the final resistance check on p. 71 of the K2 manual (the RF board is basically complete now), and I am getting unstable readings on the Q7 collector. The readings are all above 500 ohms, as they should be, but they are constantly changing. Hopefully this is normal? I get the same sort of response on the Q8 collector (although it's not one of the resistance checks). All other readings are ok. Hi Mike. My K2, #4684 does the same thing and believe it caused by a cap charging from DMM current. As long as you don't show a short you should be OK. When you get to the next step of mounting the finals to the heatsink double and triple check to make sure the tabs of the transistors are flat and parallel to the heat sink and are slightly above the 2D connector between them. For me, the best way to make sure the thermal pads are installed correctly and will stay in place while installing the heatsink is to take the wide flat edge of the green alignment tool and gently smooth the pads down onto the transistors. Slight pressure only as you don't want to rip the pads. Once you've got the heatsink installed recheck the resistance on both Q7 and Q8 collectors to make sure you don't have a short. Good luck. -- R. Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Product Selection ..Dummy Run..
Hi Andy, I've been doing this a whole lot lately leading up to my real order. Go to the elecraft.com order page and just check the boxes of the gadgets you're thinking about. When you click add to cart and then give your country mailing info, you're led to a page showing the cost including shipping price. But you still haven't placed an order since you haven't clicked on the check out now button (or even supplied your address credit card info) that's at the bottom of that page. My online credit card statement verifies I haven't inadvertently ordered a dozen K2's in my combo experiments. :-) Mike AB3AP Andy GM0NWI wrote on 03/09/05 09:04 ET: Guy's... [Elecraft] CW
My favorite technique for building CW speed is to simply play a chosen CW frequency at a wide filter setting over the speaker daily while doing tedious and even hated things that don't require total concentration such as running the washing machine, paying bills, cleaning house, etc. The mind starts picking up words without even trying to. Then phrases. All without effort. This parallels how an infant picks up his first language. I recently (over Christmas) finished my present, a KX1 with 30m, ATU and key options, and have been working to get my CW speed up (now at about 10wpm). I learned it for my General exam, 27 years ago and have never used it on the air. I have found the program MRX http://www.mrx.com.au to be very nice. You can get a free license for a club, or the non registered version has most of the features you would need for working on your speed. [Elecraft] K2 Receiver Instability
My K2/100 #1130 has developed an odd instability. When first turned on, the receiver seems unable to lock on frequency, so that CW signals have a warble to them. After a few seconds to a minute or more, the receiver stabilizes. The instability returns after each band change and often occurs when I change the XFIL setting. I don't know if this condition manifests itself in the transmitted signal. I need to take the unit apart to check mechanical/electrical connections prior to my using it as my mobile rig in the Wisconsin QSO Party this coming Sunday. Do any of you kind souls have an idea where I should concentrate my trouble-shooting efforts? I receive postings in digest mode, so direct e-mail as well as posts to the reflector would be most appreciated. I'll endeavor to inform the group of the outcome. RE: [Elecraft] K2 Receiver Instability
My best guess is that you neglected to solder a pin or have a cold solder joint on U4 - the PLL synthesizer. Quite often an un-soldered pin will work for a year or more, then oxidation causes it to go intermittent and then not work at all. Check solder connections for the parts on the top half of sheet 1 of 4 of RF Board. Next I would check voltages and that should give you an idea of where there could be a problem. Re: [Elecraft] Let me build a K2 for you.
You evidently get great pleasure in building Elecraft rigs, Alan, but do bear in mind that you could be depriving others of that pleasure. Much of the enjoyment of building an Elecraft rig is the great achievement in working stations on equipment one has built oneself. Anyone can go out and buy a black box and just plug it in and use it, but one important facet of amateur radio is then missing. Having said that, some people may feel incompetent in building equipment, perhaps due to some infirmity, in which case you are doing a fine job and providing and excellent service. Keep up the good work. 73 de David G4DMP In a recent message, Alan [EMAIL PROTECTED] said I have built 80 of them so far, and all of the other Elecraft kit.
