Re: [Elecraft] K4: "R" in display
Yes,Ludwig, it works OK, now! I use Thunderbird as well and have set it to plain text from the start using it. I am against any markup. It has been asked many times to change that on the qth.net mailman and many times was responded with "no" by the maintainers. Users that send both should know that markup is removed and only the plain text part is distributed. Data is money so keep the data as small as possible. 73, Peter Op 09-09-2021 om 13:46 schreef Ludwig Hechler: Oops, I'm sorry! I configured my Thunderbird and hope it works now. The upper part of the "R" is white, the lower part is yellow. Some illustrations in the Introduction to the Elecraft K4, e.g. the page RECEIVER CONTROLS AND ICONS, show the icon K4D at this position. Re: [Elecraft] NR after changing bands
Mike's message was a tongue in cheek response to (part of) Ludwig's earlier message. I'm not sure why it showed up as a separate thread. Please be kinder to your fellow list members. It costs you nothing and makes the world a more pleasant place. 73, Julie On Thu, Sep 9, 2021, 16:52 Mike Morrow wrote: > Would you care to take the time to express WHATEVER you are trying to ask > clearly and coherently...indicating as well SPECIFICALLY which of > Elecraft's products has you so confused? Would you care to take the time to express WHATEVER you are trying to ask clearly and coherently...indicating as well SPECIFICALLY which of Elecraft's products has you so confused? [Elecraft] NR after changing bands
Hi again (and thanks for the "R"/"DR" explanation). Here is an observation with the noice reduction NR. The bands are quite noisy here. So I use NR ADJUST set to 4 or 5. - When I last used the 40m band, mode was LSB, bandwidth was 2.8 kHz, and NR was ON. - Switch from some other band back to 40m. - Disable NR and immediatly re-enable it again. - For me it seems that the noise levels (the audio) before disabling NR and after re-enabling it are (quite a bit) different. But they shouldn't. The test with the 40m band is just an example. I (think I) observe this on other bands as well. Am I crazy or is this real? Re: [Elecraft] K4: "R" in display
This question arose on the K4 groups.io list recently. The "R" is actually a "D" superposed over "R" - the white portion is the "D" and the entire character is the "R." The indicator shows that Dynamic Range optimization is ON. Oh, so *that's* why that happens! It seems like it would be more user friendly for the reflector to bounce mails with attachments or with no plain-text message.
