for $10.  Yes, the Heil Pro7.  Works FB on receive. Haven't tried them 
on transmit yet;

Try setting the kpa1500 radio type menu item to K4.

[Elecraft] KPA1500 Coming Up As KPA500 On K4D

Hi Folks,

Please can someone enlighten me as to what I’ve done wrong….
I have a KPA1500 connected to my K4D, but whenever I power the PA on or switch 
from Standby to Operate or vice versa, the message on my K4D screen says 
“KPA500…..”. I think the KPA1500 is being power-limited because of this issue 
too.

I have a suspicion that I may have used a cable from my old KPA500 instead of 
one for my KPA1500. Are the control cables between the PA and the K4D 
different? Hopefully, that’s what the issue is.

Any ideas?

And to conclude...  in case someone else runs into a problem like this
maybe they can sort it out faster.  (Actually happened to a friend
with a lightweight walkman style headset that had been worn ragged.
Identical symptoms.  He tossed them and used a new set.)

Before sending in for repair a second time (thanks to Heil for their
patience), I swapped everything one part at a time and using a KX2 to
swap with my KX3.  That narrowed it down to the headset and it's
internal wiring fault causing I*R type coupling.  Sure sounds like RF
feedback, because it's quite similar in some ways.

Opened up the box from the repair depot.  No more wiring fault.  No
more feedback.  I could crank up the monitor level etc with no
problem.   (I do like monitor for phone, but somewhere around 5, not
the full scale 30.)

Love the big bulky heavy over the ear headphones.  :-)

[Elecraft] Fast Fan Speed on KPA 500

Did someone go in and change the automatic fan speed in the menu?  Maybe it
needs to be re-adjusted back to the normal initial speed and following
speeds.  Go normal and see how it goes!
