[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report

2023-07-16 Thread kevin

Good Evening,

QSB was slow on both bands.  Fairly deep too: S1 to S7 or S2 to S6.
There were a few thunderstorms, none of them very loud. Copy was mostly
good.  It was fun digging into the noise.

  On 14050.5 kHz at 2200z:

W0CZ - Ken - ND

K6XK - Roy - IA

K0DTJ - Brian - CA

AB9V - Mike - IN

K4JPN - Steve - GA

W8OV - Dave - TX

  On 7047.5 kHz at z:

K0DTJ - Brian - CA

K6PJV - Dale - CA

WM5F - Dwight - ID

Until next week 73,

   Kevin.  KD5ONS

Crossing the lawn that morning, Douglas Spaulding broke a spider web
with his face. A single invisible line on the air touched his brow and
snapped without a sound. So, with the subtlest of incidents, he knew
that this day was going to be different. It would be different also,
because, as his father explained, driving Douglas and his ten-year-old
brother Tom out of town toward the country, there were some days
compounded completely of odor, nothing but the world blowing in one
nostril and out the other. And some days, he went on, were days of
hearing every trump and trill of the universe. Some days were good for
tasting and some for touching. And some days were good for all the
senses at once. This day now, he nodded, smelled as if a great and
nameless orchard had grown up overnight beyond the hills to fill the
entire visible land with its warm freshness. The air felt like rain, but
there were no clouds. Momentarily, a stranger might laugh off in the
woods, but there was silence.

Re: [Elecraft] [Elecraft-K4] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Announcement

2023-07-16 Thread Dave New, N8SBE

Alan,

Yes, 80M being what it is even at 9PM in the evening here in Michigan.
I'm afraid so.

If anyone would care to start up a west coast net later in the evening,
they are perfectly welcome to.

Note that there are 20M and 40M nets earlier in the day. In particular
the 20M net gets check ins from both coasts, and sometimes from Great
Britain and New Zealand, depending on conditions.

See this post from Carl, K8NU, regarding the SSB Nets and the weekly
Zoom meeting:

Now that we have moved into Daylight time and have longer daylight

Hope to see you this evening on the net.

[Elecraft] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Report

2023-07-16 Thread Dave New, N8SBE

3784 kHz 9PM ET Sunday (0100Z Monday).

Thanks to the following check ins (w) and relays (rel):

   Call State Radio/AmpName
1 N8SBE MIK4D/KPA500 Dave (w),(op)
2 K8NU OHK4D/KPA1500 Carl (w)
3 KC9ZASILTS-590/AL80B Tony (w)
4 K1ND MIK4/KPA500Jan (w),(rel)
5 N9QDS IL7300 Keith (w)
6 WW4JF TNK3S/KPA500 John (w)
7 KG8LB MICentral Electronics 200V Gary (w)

The bands were in better condition this evening, in spite of a 1-2-3
punch of an M-class flare, followed by two C-class flares earlier in the
day. We had a couple of new check ins this week, and it was
particularly good to hear from Gary in Utica, MI on his early 60's
Central Electronics 200V - sounding good, Gary! And it was nice hearing
from everyone else, signals were OK for the most part with some QSB.

Hope to see you next week!

Call Elecraft support. Their service techs will likely have seen it before.

I had the same problem about a year ago.  It's a problem with the output PIN
diode switch. There will be a burned toroid in the output switch circuit. I
sent mine back for repair. It's been working fine since.Good luck,Glenn WB5TUF
