That specially applies to antenna systems, including all the cable and connectors between the amp, a tuner if there is one, and the antenna, and the antenna itself. With 500W, voltage and current are more than double what they are at 100W. Measurements will rarely help in diagnosing faults. The exception would is high SWR measured with high power, intermittent or constant, when there is low SWR at low power. And even with that, careful visual inspection is required to find the fault. Except for the antenna itself, connectors are one of the first things to suspect. Has moisture intruded? Were connectors well installed to begin with? Are any of the connectors (including adapters) JUNK? If it isn't labeled Amphenol or with a MIL-spec number, there's a good chance it's junk. 73, Jim K9YC __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] My KPA-500
That which works fine at 100 watts might not work fine at 500. There have been several examples of that here in the past. I suggest checking your KPA500 into a decent dummy load (shortest connection possible) before assuming it has gone bad. That being said, if it is indeed the amp I'd look at capacitors first, especially any that are used on all of the bands. [Elecraft] Availability of KH1 at major hamfests
I will ask this again. I did not see a response earlier. I know the supply chain of the KH1 is limited right now. BUT will Elecraft be bringing any KH1s to Xenia just to sell there like they have other rigs in the past? By May hopefully the supply issue should be more stable. Dave K8WPE since 1960 David J.
