Re: [Elecraft] FOR SALE: K2
Rob, do they specifically forbid HF radio transmission? I live in a small (21 unit) condo building near Chicago, and the association is kind enough to let me put a Hustler antenna with three resonators on our first floor balcony. It works but OK not great. If you’re on a higher floor, you can do quite well from a condo. Is the building frame construction or steel framework with reinforced concrete slabs? Wood frame construction is much better! Dave K9SW > On Aug 30, 2023, at 11:57 AM, ROBERT FOLLETT > wrote: > > I am moving into a Condo complex, and can’t do HF radio there…. [Elecraft] K1 power output
I have a K1 that I’m looking to sell, and took a look at the power output before listing it. Power output is as follows: 40 meters 5.2 watts 30 meters 4.5 watts 20 meters 1.3 watts 17 meters 0.7 watts These are obviously not the expected power output levels. Re: [Elecraft] Regarding KX3 power
A 123 AH BioEnno Battery would cost nearly as much as a KX3! Dave K9SW On 10/10/21 7:27 PM, Geoffrey Feldman wrote: Understand you don't want an amplifier, go QRP. Nothing wrong with the switcher or with the Pro Audio. What I am happy with is the BioEnno is the BioEnno 123AH battery. It's small enough to fit into the "shack in the pack" or something similar in size. LiFePo batteries such as this one can take thousands of charges and also stay above 12 volts for almost the entire discharge cycle. The KX3 will run at 15 watts out for quite some time with the above mentioned unit. This brings me to its charger. The connector for the bioenno charger to the battery is the same as the power input for the KX3. It's perfectly adequate as a power supply. People argue about the special spiffiness of the Pro Audio. But I can't find an operationally noticeable difference. Obviously the BioEnno battery has no switching noise at all. I don't recommend pro-audio for charging the BioEnno as the approved charger cuts back voltage as the battery tops off and the ProAudio does not. So if the BioEnno appeals, you really have to get the correct charger for it. If you still need you need another power supply, make your personal choice there. All options mentioned are OK for something. This is what I use when portable and how I charge both the KX3 internal battery and the BioEnno when I get back home (but not at the same time, or I haven't tried that) Geoff W1GCF __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to k...@comcast.net __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] K2 CW - relay clicks

The T/R switching in the K2 is all electronic, no relays involved. If a K2/100, break it down to just the base K2 and see if it is in the base K2 or in the KPA100. If you have the K2/10, remove the top cover which contains the KAT2. If it occurs in just the base K2, hold your finger on the relays one by one and see if you can detect which one is switching as you key the K2. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/24/2021 5:22 PM, K9SW wrote: Recently bought a K2 and all was working well (silent QSK) until I moved from one spot on the bench to another. It was powered up and one of the leads fell off the power supply connector, so this was a live power interruption. After this, there are relay clicks when sending CW. I did a reset, but this did not change the relay clicks. Built the probe and did the CAL FIL routine and got it back on the air successfully. S/N 100, with ATU and SSB board. It would be nice to get back to silent QSK and preserve relay life. Re: [Elecraft] KX3 VFO tuning noise...an observation...
Try turning VFO NR to ON. Dave K9SW On Dec 18, 2012, at 5:05 PM, zen...@netspace.net.au wrote: Hi Group, FWIW, I have an observation about the KX3 VFO tuning noise. I assembled my #2511 (absent any options) from the kit. Over a month of use, I noticed the raspy VFO tuning noise only on 10m, in quiet band conditions. I couldn't hear it anywhere else. I later received the internal ATU, battery charger and the filter module options and installed these all together in one session. After adding these modules, I have noticable tuning noise on all bands 17m and above. It is reduced but not eliminated by the VFO NR menu setting. On 20m, I can hear the artefact, but it is less noticable and has a different quality: softer and more like a pulsing shift in amplitude of the background band noise as the VFO is turned. None of this stops me enjoying my KX3, but for some reason, the artefact became noticable on my KX3 only after installation of my options. This is a cosmetic issue, without any functional impairment, but it's un-attractive and I'm hoping a fix might be found some day. 73, John VK7JB __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

The specs say the KX3 current draw is typically one to two amps when transmitting, so your 2.89 amp PS should do fine.
