Most prices I found on the Internet were in the $59 range. BH Photovideo in NYC lists it at $38.95 but they are currently out of stock. I'll try my local Sam Ash. 73 Gary -- KJ7RT Sun City, AZ U.S.A. [Elecraft] K2 #6815 - VFO Linearization CAL PLL Info 232
Subject line says it. Everything has gone perfectly until I hit this. Manual says I'm probably not on 40 M. VFO says 7030.00. Only non-standard part of build is that I'm using the UnMods kit for all options as well as their Internal Microphone Adaptor. All measurements have been amazingly spot on. Any ideas? [Elecraft] K2 option installation sequence question
I have a K2 on order and plan to add the KSB2, KAT2, KDSP2 and K160RX. The 100w option and KAT2-100 will come later and probably be installed in a separate enclosure. My question is regarding any advice as to building and installing any of the above options during the K2 build. In other words will the attendant de-construction involved with any of these options be a reason to install the option during the original build? Aside from my own priorities, these seem to be pretty independent. My inclination is to do the K2 immediately followed by the K160RX, KAT2. The SSB and DSP will be added soon thereafter. Any pointers would be appreciated. 73 Gary - KJ7RT __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] K1 U2 extraction help!
I finally found the cause of my inability to align the band filter in my K1 under construction. I installed the RF board U2 backwards :-[ . I've managed to suck the solder from the holes on the bottom of the board, but still have some on the top. I'm trying to salvage the IC (product detector) so am begging for advice on how to successfully free up the solder from the top of the board. This is an 8 pin DIP. Next question, is there any reason not to use sockets in this location (or any other Elecraft kit for that matter)? Re: [Elecraft] K1 U2 extraction help!
Thanks to all that replied on and off list. I've tried a wick and the RS solder sucker and have the bottom clean and clear but there is still just a bit but enough solder on the top of the board to hold the IC in place. Think I'll go the safe route and order a replacement from Elecraft and clip the leads on the existing one. 73, Gary KJ7RT __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] New K1 on the way - Band Module Questions
I should receive my new K1-2 with KAT1 tomorrow or Monday. I ordered 40M and 30M for starters. I will add others shortly. My question is regarding modification for other bands. I've seen replacement parts lists for 12 and 10 M. Is there any reason the KFL1-4 is limited to 40/30/20 and 17 or 15? What if I wanted to build a four band module as say, 30/17/12/10 meters? Is there something inherent in the KFL1-4 that prevents this? Re: [Elecraft] New to the Forum
Jim, Nice to have the K3 assembly information. Have you or anyone else noted the time to assemble a K2? I hope to build one or the other sometime in the not too distant future. Gary KJ7RT Jim Miller KG0KP wrote: We're going to scare off the guy that is thinking about buying one. It isn't really that bad. Matter of fact it is farily easy, just be DETAIL oriented and read everything twice and be sure you understand. That is not hard at all with all the pictures. explanation detail and all. AND, the K3 is simply an assembly process, not rorroid winding or any of that stuff and when you load the firmware, it is simply a single load of the latest as it is all in each version. Even the load is a simple process, almost a one click deal. You will find that most had about 10 to 12 hours from sealed box to power on for the first time. I did mine in about 4 sessions that totaled 11 hours and I went slow. AND it was fun. YOU build it yourself and you are not afraid to tear it all apart, nothing to it, you built it and know all about it, where everything is, what each piece does. and how to get it out and back in if you want to.
