[Elecraft] Power loss on 15 meters with K3s

2023-04-11 Thread Gerald Finn
I had posted about a problem with my K3s loosing transmitting power on only 15
meters during a transmission. The transmitter is set for 75 watts. The power
could be restored by turning the rig off and back on. With the power set for
10 watts, the rig performs properly and does not loose power. I posted an
enquiry on the list and received several excellent emails. I also sent a
message to Elecraft regarding the problem. This morning I received a phone
call from Doug with Elecraft. After consulting with another service
technician, he thought the problem could be due to aging capacitors in a band
pass filter. He recommended waiting for a complete failure before sending the
rig back for service.

[Elecraft] K3s problem

2023-04-09 Thread Gerald Finn
My K3s has been working wonderfully since bought new in 2015. I use it for CW
only and run it at 75 - 85 watts. It has a new problem on 15 meters only.
After a short period of transmission the power will disappear. Turning the
power off and on restores full functions for another amount of time. The
receiver section is not affected. Any suggestions for where I should start
looking? Thank you 73.Jerry W6RKE

Re: [Elecraft] Uninterruptible Power Supply for K3S

2016-07-11 Thread Gerald Finn
In response to Stengrevics : To deal with a power line noise problem, someone
suggested I try an
uninterruptible power supply (UPS).? Does anyone have any experience doing
this?? If so, what UPS specifications are appropriate to handle the K3S?

For my Elecraft K3S/P3 I am using an Astron RS35M power supply which feeds a
West Mountain DC-to-Go with attached Radio Power Gate PG40S and RigRunner
4007U. My battery is a 79 amp hour AGM. I live on an island and at stormy
times of the year, we experience power losses and multiple short hits. This
combination has been quite satisfactory.

[Elecraft] Which of these would make the best power supply for the K3(S)?

2015-10-29 Thread gerald finn
For powering my Elecraft K3S and P3, I am using the Astron RS-35 power supply
feeding a West Mountain DC-to-Go PWR gate PG40S and Rigrunner 4007U with a 79
Amp hour battery.

Living on an island, we have many spikes and losses of power during the year.
I figure that if I'm spending a sizable amount for my rig, I should have a good
power supply.

[Elecraft] West Mountain DC to Go with K3 (W6RKE)

2015-07-16 Thread Gerald Finn
This is my first question for this list. I hope my format is acceptable.

Has anyone used one of the West Mountain Radio DC to Go with PWRgate and
RIGrunner battery boxes with their K3?

In advance, thank you
