OK you guys, I have gone out to the garage and put on my "hip waders"
now you guys can continue, as now I won't get any on me !
Well, unless it gets so deep, it goes over the top of the waders !!!

[Elecraft] K2\100 going to Guyana

2006-02-25 Thread Ken K7ZUM

Hi All,

Just a short note, my DX-ped partner (AH8DX-8R1EA) and I
are preparing to leave this sunday evening,Feb.26th., for Guyana 8R1
land on another "suitcase" DX-ped, plan on being in Georgetown on
Tuesday Feb. 28th, and hopefully set up soon afterwards. I have applied
for the call 8R1ZUM, and plan on doing mostley RTTY while I am there,
then the ARRL Dx phone test, and a litte more RTTY after the test, leave
for home on Tuesday March 7th. I will be taking my K2\100 plus small
solid state amp, single butternut vertical. If anybody on the Elecraft
reflector needs Guyana on RTTY, this will be a good opportunity.

btw, I don't know if anybody else on the reflector does this, but everytime
I turn my K2 on, and use if on a DX-ped hour after hour, I sit and look at
this itty bitty radio, and am just amazed at how something so small, can be so
good ! anybody else do this ?

Re: [Elecraft] Cooling fans

2005-10-29 Thread Ken K7ZUM

Ten-Tec has a very nice model 310 cooling fan for the Orion,Omni,Corsair
series radios, that fits very nicely on the top of the K2/100, hangs a
little
bit off the rear, and if you use the tilt bail on the K2, you can use a
rubber
band to temp hold it on, have used it this way many times, works well

[Elecraft] strange pwr out on RTTY

2005-08-20 Thread Ken K7ZUM

HI All,

Have been playing around in the SARTG RTTY test this weekend,
and have noticed a power problem with my K2\KPA100.
If I am on 20 or 15 mtrs, in the RTTY mode, I have little if any pwr output
control, even though the display shows 0 to 110 watts, my watt meter will
only show about 20-30 watts at most, and about the only way to adjust pwr
out (driving a linear) is to crank up a little more mic input (running a Hal
DXP-38
box) but when I change bands to 80,40,10 mtrs, in the RTTY mode, works just
fine,
also, if I go to 20 or 15 mtrs, and change from the RTTY mode, and switch to
LSB,
I have complete power output control, this is only happening on 20 and 15 mtrs,
anybody have any ideals ??? I am at a loss ???

Thanks to all who answered my initial question about missing a few dits,
and now I know that it is "normal" with an easy work around,
now I'll use a single "dah" (instead of "dits") seems to bring the power
up
almost immediate.

and btw, Ron, you would not belive what kind of weird neo-geo-gravitational
