[Elecraft] CW Skimmer with KX3 Help needed
Anyone using an Elecraft KX3 with CW Skimmer with the DigiRig See offset noise on CW decodes no matter what frequency I select in CW Skimmer and hard to decode signals and is within 1kHz of desired frequency Need to figure how to set it up with a KX3 withCW Skimmer Seems the I/Q output is not that good on the KX3Maybe I am missing something here !FYI, WSJX works fine with the KX3 and DigiRigMaybe it has to do with the filters in CW but have set this to NORMAL via front panel, perhapsI/Q output is too narrow when in CW mode for the KX3 ? [Elecraft] When to use the preamps on the KX2/KX3 vs. K3/K3S (Wayne Burdick)
Wayne, Have a KX3 here and use the Rx I/Q Ports with external SDR receiver and applications need I/Q outputs with an HF 3dB splitter with a DXE RTR-1A DXE box with Protection from overload Rx protection Noticed poor sensitivity due to the High NF when taking output from Rx I/Q at the Rx I/Q has great amplitude & Phase Balance ( outstanding ) Noted that to increase sensitivity in my Go Box had to add a Clifton Labs HF 11dB High IP2/High Ip3 LNA preamp to utilize the Rx I/Q Ports on super weak Signals. [Elecraft] KX3 - SDRPlay RSP2 - Win4K3 and WriteLog or possibly N1MM+ logging program can all run at same time ?
Have Writelog Version 12 used it for ARRL Field with my K3 last year This year want to use Writelog with my KX3 but only see K3 but no KX3 in it's configuration setup. Anyone have success with Writelog, may need to go to N1MM+ instead Also running KX3, SDRPlay and Win4K3 here and that works great but now need a Logging program that will allow this setup to work Seems there are CommPort issues in software where I can not use Win4K3 on my KX3 and a logging program at same time. For a trip to ZF last month, I took several old Walmart crappie pole pieces and built a 22 foot mast by judiciously selecting and cutting pieces no longer than 28 inches so that the sections would stack and the disassembled antenna would fit diagonally in my suitcase. I'm hoping that has forever solved the air transport of fiberglass mast problem. Its not as bulky as it might seem because the narrower pieces stow easily inside the wider ones. And Walmart crappie poles aren't exactly heavy duty. I did find that unless you are good with puzzles, it is a really good idea to number the sections in order of assembly. Don't ask.. As far as high rises go, if you can get a wire 6 feet out and drop it vertically it can be an amazing low band antenna - you need a weight on the bottom that can't hurt anyone, like a hotel size plastic shampoo bottle or a small bean bag like the tree maintenance guys use, and if you land the weight on the ground somewhere out of the way, rather than letting it swing or be near a pedestrian pathway, you are much better off. In that case some monofilament for the last ten feet or so keeps the rf away from whatever is there on the ground. My kx3 rarely has any trouble tuning that set up if you throw a counterpoise wire around the balcony or can ground to a railing. Have fun. Phil, Wayne and others My Best SDR radio with super Blocking range, Sensitivity is a K3 with the KSYN3A board and new PreAmp/XV Interface boardmodule board from Elecraft Added an Asus I/Q external sound card box, netbook computer, PowerSDR and a Larry Phillip's LPPAN-2 and beats everything out there ! As I change button on the K3, the Power SDR software followsor vice versa. Really performs well, the Up front filtering in the K3 withe the super Low Noise LOPhase Noise with the upgraded K3 ( or new K3S ) makes the best of both worlds,conventional and SDR world's ( A hybrid so to say ) . The LP-PAN2, since done at IF is protected that strong signals. Make some of my $expensive Big Box radio's look bad ! Just my $0.02 two cents opinion about all of this hype on the IC-7300, it not goingto be anywhere near a hybrid in performance. You can not beat the K3/KSYN3A or K3Sfor performance. Have an Elecraft K3 here.When I try to get Audio from the Line-Out for CW, to feed into a computer, I get no Audio Out, tried Mono and Stereo Outputson my K3. Do I need to turn something on in the K3 Menu ?? If I plug into front Headphone Jack on K3, it works. I need a independent Audio Line-Out that is nottied to the front panel volume control.
