[Elecraft] PX3 Pigknob
Just finished the PX3 (kit) and it works like a charm. Now comes the question. I had a Pigknob attached to the “Acc 1” port. Now the Acc1 port is connected between the KX3 PX3. Can I “Y” the connection into the PX3, (From KX3 Pigknob), or some other way. [Elecraft] KAT500 Tune Pblms
Using my K3 and other Radios thru my KAT500 at powers under 100 watts, I have the following problem: While transmitting at swr's under 1.5, the Tuner will go haywire try to retune go into the tune mode.. Lots of relay clattering….. I have to stop transmitting go into normal tune mode re-memorize the frequency. Antennas are End Fed Zepps. I must have missed an Errata sheet, mentioning the PTT function wiring change. The wiring should be Sleeve – Ring, NOT slv/tip. I'd like to thank Dale/Elecraft for setting me straight. [Elecraft] KX3 Amp keying
In a much earlier question I had asked Wayne if the KX3 would be able to key the Juma PA100D amplifier. He responded with a yes.. I tried it today with a cable from KX3 ACC2 to the T/R input on the Juma amp. Yes it did key the amp, but when connected there was an appreciable receive loss on the KX3. I am guessing, but in the order of 20-30db. What am I missing here ? [Elecraft] KX3 Questions
I received my KX3 a few days ago we are getting acquainted. Similar to my K3, but not the same.. I downloaded the newest Beta, 1.06. As I understand it, there is some form of DSP installed. When I invoke NR the screen reads tbd I assume that more is to come, as there are no levels to adjust as in the K3. The AGC left at the default Threshold of 7, is not sufficient. I will try lower levels to stop the overload from strong stations. I am trying to use the APF mode. A little complex, but it tends to ring when peaked in mode II. XPD3 paddle. Mechanically a very nice match to the rig. I prefer a tight (little movement ) paddle. I adjusted the paddles until constant contact then backed off, then tightened. Still more movement then I like, but I can acclimate. Sometimes in the middle of a transmission, I would get a string of dits or dahs, generally happens when settings too tight. I have opened the settings more, inducing more travel, I still get the stuck condition. I am wondering if this is a mechanical problem with the key, or a software pblm with the encoder circuit I will take it portable this afternoon give it a workout. I would appreciate comments. I am using HRD/DM780 with a ³Navigator² interface. They work great, kudos to Simon Glenn. I am using all for PSK31 as well as the Navigator for a separate WSJT/JT65A application. I would like to see more of the K3 features in HRD, such as ³CWT² ³RIT². It may be there already, just have not found it. I use a balanced/unbalanced Tuner by Hamware.de. I saw them at Dayton this year scooped one up. The smaller unit has a balanced Pi network, rated at 200 Watts, capable of switching two antennas. It has an internal (shack) rf sensor with the Tuner mounted outdoors. It has worked very well for me will detect low wattage ( I use it with KX1, K2 Pro III, K3 soon). The external tuner can select balanced or unbalanced antennas, with the 2 ant. Switch, you can operate one of each if desired. There is no involvement by me in this business, but I thought this would fit the discussion quite well.
