[Elecraft] Elecraft K4 Ethernet Vulnerability
Ladies and gentlemen, Perhaps this is old news to some however I thought it worth asking before my radio arrives. Given the K4 now has direct Ethernet connectivity, how vulnerable is it to malware, bugs, worms and bad internet stuff in general? What is recommended for the radio itself besides protecting the associated computer? For example, should a VPN be used or is the risk considered low enough to disregard? [Elecraft] K4 REV Button
Gentlemen, One of the things that I appreciate about Elecraft is how it’s panel buttons are used to full effect with several secondary uses. While looking at the KX3 and K3 on my desk I note all buttons were used for additional functions however on the K4 there is a single button with a single purpose. Whether or not this is being reserved for future functionality is unknown however I have an idea. For consideration, I recommend the REV button on the K4 be considered for a third programmable function, or a PF3. Where it’s closer to the VFO it would be a quicker to use. While I understand this may involve changing the silk screen paint on the front panel, I figure it would result in added functionality with just programming. Again this is only an idea. I’m in Group 3 awaiting my own K4D/HD short listed for sometime around June. You can do it! [Elecraft] K4HD Executive Summary Request
Gentlemen, Having ordered a K4D with the 3rd group (order 26415), when I expressed immediate interest in the K4HD module. Would you be able to provide a high level summary of the progress and current forecast for that particular piece of kit? Of course I’d prefer to have it included and calibrated from the factory when the new toy box arrives. Thanks in advance!
