[Elecraft] KIO2 12 volt regulator
If you look up the data sheet, and under “Absolute Maximum Values” will reveal a clue. The MAX 1406 shows a maximum value of 7 volts. Wouldn’t hold my breath on it working if 12V applied. Don, Why not replace the regulator and cross your fingers? If it works, all is well. Change them both. Even if the unit “worked” ok if you didn’t replace U1, you would be just waiting for a failure. HiMy KIO2 interface has stopped working. Voltage checks indicated that the 5 volt regulator had 12 volts in and 12 volts out. This is the VCC feed for the U1 processor. So I can replace the regulator but would the processor have been damaged? Should I just change both for general practice?
