[Elecraft] Elecraft K1 for sale - Loaded

I have a barely used Elecraft K1 for sale (S/N-01351), bought the kit back
in 2002, I just needed something to keep me busy, so I bought it and built
it.I love the receiver on this baby, and used it for a lot of weak signal
stuff, I have replaced it with a K3, so I'm looking at selling it.
It's a 4 band unit, not a 2x2 swap, 15,20,30, and 40 meters, has the Noise
Blanker, ATU-4-bands, back light LCD, and the KC6AUP 3d printed folding
stand installed. Basically everything except the internal battery kit.
I have the original assembly manual with my build notes in it, with my
adjustment notes made during the build, as well as the other manuals that
came with the kit.

I'm asking $500, and will take Paypal, we can work out how you want to do
the shipping.

I have for sale an Elecraft K1 4 band rig in Excellent condition.  This 
rig has very low hours on it and a higher SN in the 2700 range.  The rig 
comes with the hard to find 4 band (40/30/20/15) module and the ATU 
(Antenna Tuner) installed.  I will also throw in the constructed & 
working 17/80 meter module as well!  I have a small plug in power 
adapter to run the rig as a home station, and a double fused Anderson 
connector mobile adapter cable. A printed version of the build manual is 
also included.


Construction of the rig was done by a very meticulous person and all of 
the coils and transformers were wound by a true professional.  The rig 
TX and RX including its filters (200Hz-850 Hz) have all been recently 
tested on-air. TX bandpass has been tested at a +/- 10 Hz tone pitch 
center.  This rig has been carefully stored in a protective box in a 
non-smoking, pet free environment

Since I've only had a few people email me to inquire about a better 
price I'll say that I'm asking $575.00 for the rig plus shipping. But I 
am open to fair and reasonable offers.  Shipping will be at actual cost

This K1 is a GREAT radio.
I'm always impressed by it when I've taken it out camping, or on field day,
or when I'm at home. The ATU matches just about anything you can put in the
trees! This is a 2-band version (70Khz band spread - can be changed to
150Khz) (20 and 40 mtrs installed) with an extra KFL1-2 Two-Band board (for
15 and 30 mtrs). It has the KAT1 Internal Automatic Antenna Tuner (ATU),
KBT1 Internal Battery Adapter, KNB1 Noise Blanker, KTS1 Wide-Range Tilt
Stand and the FDIMP FingerDimple. I also have the K1BKLTKIT K1 Back light
kit but it's not yet built and installed. The power cord has Anderson power
poles. The original manual is also included.
I also have the original speaker/case top that was replaced when the KBT1
internal battery adapter was installed.
This radio is in excellent physical shape and operates as good as it looks. 
I'd like to get $490 plus shipping (est $23 w/ins)
Current price list for all this is $676.60.
Only selling to so I can buy a KX3.

  have a K1 #009304 band 40,30,20,15 mtrs for sale.  Asking $395.00(or make 
offer) plus shipping.  The K1 has
the ATU in it, no noise blanker or back light.  I only bought it about 3
weeks ago to try to run qrp mobile but not working out for me.  I am
wanting to get something different to try.  The only issue that I have
found with it was a clicking noise in speaker while sending code, but
ordered the Q10&  Q11 transistors and replaced them and all is well
now.  The K1 sounds great and I have made about 20 contacts on it.
Other than what I have mentioned no issues that I am aware of.  No power
cord with it.  I had to make my own.  I can send pics if someone would
like off of the reflector site.  If anyone is interested in the K1

I don't mean to answer for John, but perhaps this is some useful information:

The firmware of the K1 front panel PIC hasn't changed since January 2001 
(version 1.09), which would be earlier than K1 serial 589.

IIRC, the last significant K1 firmware change was for the KAT1 antenna tuner
PIC (version 1.30) about ten years ago.

K1 development has been *real* stable for the past decade, due to lack of 
anything to complain about! :-)

Doing some shack simplification, and have decided to sell my K1.  This rig
has been a joy to use on my infrequent portable operations, but I'm loosing
interest in the portable scene since working out an effective antenna setup
here in spite of the HOA restrictions.

The K1 is in mint condition both electrically and cosmetically.  I bought
and built it in 2007.  Light usage on a few well-protected portable outings
and stored in my non-smoking shack since then.  Just checked it out, and it
works great.  One modification was made during the construction.  Instead of
the barrel connector for the DC input, I used a 6 inch pigtail terminated in
a standard PowerPole connector.  This makes it easy to connect to either
battery or shack 12V power.

This is a 4 band unit set up for 40, 30, 20 and 15 meters.  Accessories
included are the dial backlight, tilting stand and finger dimple for the
tuning knob.  Current kit price for this is $467.

Power output at 13.8 V is 6.53W on 40, 6.04W on 30, 5.57W on 20 and 5.90W on
15. Tuning range covers the lower 85 KHz of each band.  Extra parts for
modifying 15 meter coverage to 17 meters and changing the tuning range are
included as well as all the manuals and documentation.  

Price is $370 via PayPal which includes insured USPS Priority Mail shipping

battery(I don't know if it can be recharged..and I may not be able to

I believe I may have blown Q7, the PA. When I measure the resistance with it
still mounted on the board it shows 0 ohms to ground on all three pins. Does
this sound like the PA is gone?

This is not mine; I'm selling it for J. Frank Brumbaugh, W4LJD, a retired
engineer in his mid 80s, getting out of ham radio. (He used to provide a lot
of material for my column in the QRP Quarterly.) After I agreed to sell it
for him and he shipped it to me I played around with it on and off for a few
weeks, fixed a problem (intermittent RIT caused by a bad solder joint), and
now it's time to advertise it.

I don't have an outdoor antenna at present, but did play around with it on
my HP8640B/USM-323 signal generator and seems to receive well on all bands.
It puts out at least 5 watts on all 4 bands, maybe more if you tweak the
circuits. It covers at least the first 60 KHz of 40, 30, 20 and 15 meters
(going up to about 67 KHz over the lower ends). Although there is an
optional backlight now available for the display, this one does not have it.

Homebrew power supply built into same type of Elecraft case as the K1 (will
supply a JPG photo if you want to see it)
Has some sort of add-on, flip-down, single leg stand on the front, which
does not appear to be a current Elecraft product.

No complete manual is included, although that can be downloaded from the
Elecraft web site. (He did send along his documentation book which includes
some marked up pages from the manual and sheets from the add-ons.) There is
also some sort of homebrew audio filter module mounted inside the case but
not hooked up and not tried. (I checked all 3 K1 filter settings and they
seem to work well.)  Noted in passing--it would appear that this came from a
smoking environment, although I did wash off the cases which seems to have
helped some.

Asking $425 plus shipping (will  be sent to US addresses only). Any
questions on the rig will be gladly entertained.
